| ObjectivePsoriasis is a chronic recurrent inflammatory skin disease, which has unknown etiology. It is one of the hot research focus in the field of dermatology currently.At present, modern medicine has no special treatment and measures to treat it, the curative effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment of the disease showed original and advantage.Master of national physician Professor Deng Tietao puts the Five-viscera related theory forward. The innovative new TCM theory is based on his years of clinical practice. The theory comes from the clinical practice, through scientific research, in turn to guide clinical practice. The Five-viscera related theory has the characteristics of holistic view, clear-level, and fouces on both the root cause and symptoms in explaining the complex clinical pathogenesis, which makes it has advantages in solving difficult problems. Professor Liu Youzhang as Professor Deng Tietao’s disciple, inheriting and developing the theory, he treats many difficult diseases by the Five-viscera related theory, which obtains a better curative effect. The characteristics of this study is to summarize the experience of Professor Liu Youzhang, inherit and develop the application of the Five-viscera related theory in the treatment of psoriasis.MethodsThis study mainly adopts literature review, academic thought and clinical experience summary, experimental study. It arranges and researches the academic idea and experience of Professor Liu Youzhang by the Five-viscera related theory in treating psoriasis. The first part, through literature review,it systematicly summarizes the research progress of syndrome differentiation and treatment ideas on the treatment of psoriasis with TCM and the TCM origin of psoriasis.The second part, through the literature research, the study sorted out Professor Liu Youzhang’s work in theory and application research about the Five-viscera related theory. These researches include the "spleen--mitochondria related" science and its application to the myasthenia gravis, gastric ulcer and other diseases; the Liver-spleen related theory and its application to liver cirrhosis and liver cirrhosis ascites, irritable bowel syndrome, functional dyspepsia;the spleen-kidney related theory and its application to myasthenia gravis, osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s disease;the liver-spleen-kidney related theory and its application to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The fourth part is empirical study. To observe the effect of X Shi Qing Xie Decoction of imiquimod induced mice psoriasis model of histopathology and serum IL-6, IFN-γ, ICAM-1, and explore the possible mechanism of Liu Shi Qing Xie Decoction in the treatment of psoriasis.60 Kunming mice were randomly divided into six groups, each group of 10. Outside the blank control group with vaseline, the rest group with imiquimod 5% cream to the animals’ back skin for 8 days. While each group of mice treated with the drug orally, blank control group, model control group received saline, the rest of the group were to be Tripterygium glycosides tablet, Liu Shi Qing Xie Decoction high, medium and low dose orally for 8 days, and one time a day.3 hours after the last lavage, ELISA was used to detect the serum IL-6 and IFN-γ. HE staining was used to observe the histopathological changes of lesions after euthanizing the animals.ResultsProfessor Liu Youzhang think that psoriasis is a disease in the skin, but related to the Five zang-organs, and the lung-spleen-liver is closely related to the occurrence and development of psoriasis. In the treatment, Professor Liu Youzhang stressed eliminate the pathogen factor first. He think both the internal treatment and external reatment should be utilized. In medicining, he combines the clearing method and tonifying method, especially good at useing the Lingnan herbal.In animal experiment, X Shi Qing Xie Decoction can reduced the serum IL-6, IFN-Y levels of imiquimod induced psoriasis model mice. ConclusionProfessor Liu Youzhang used the Five-viscera related theory as a guide for the treatment of psoriasis, emphasizing the etiology and pathogenesis of the lung and spleen and liver related, worthy of further application.With the guidance of the correlation of the Five-viscera related theory Professor Liu Youzhang created Liu Shi Qing Xie Decoction. It has a good curative effect on mouse psoriasis like model, and its mechanism might be through regulating IL-6, IFN-γ, which mediated inflammation and epidermal proliferation. |
