Objective:To discuss the acupuncture’s history, current situation, development prospect in Hong Kong and to determinethe year prevalencefor acupuncture utilization among People in Hong Kong in order to have a faster and better development.Methods:To analyze and review the data collecting from journals, reports, academic books,thesis, and other government documentsso as to discuss the history, current situation and development prospects of Hong Kong’s acupuncture. Aepidemiological survey is collected by inviting the people from the Internet and direct from the public in Hong Kong. The collected surveys is analyzed by multivariate Binary Logistic Regression method in order to determinethe year prevalencefor acupuncture utilization among People in Hong Kong.Results:The year prevalence of acupuncture’s utilization in women are0.7times (OR:1.686, CI:1.048-2.712) more than men. The year prevalence of acupuncture’s utilization in people aged25-34are2.3times (OR:3.269, CI:1.164-9.186) more than those aged15-24. The year prevalence of acupuncture’s utilization in divorce or widow are3.2times (OR:4.243, CI:1.434-12.553) more than the singles. The year prevalence of acupuncture’s utilization in uneducated or primary school level are25times (OR:.042, CI:.005-.371) less than those in secondary school level. The year prevalence of acupuncture’s utilization for those salary between﹩20001-﹩30000are0.4times (OR:1.157-3.768) more than those salary between﹩10001-﹩20000. Those salary between﹩40001-50000are2.9times (OR:3.916,CI:1.181-12.987) more.There is a great progress in the development of acupuncture in Hong Kong. Before the handover, there was no public Chinese medicine clinic. Now, there have been more than a dozen public clinics. Before, there are just few acupuncture researches. Now, there have been at least dozens of acupuncture researches published in the international journals. Before, there was no full time college education of Chinese medicine. Now, there have been different full time college education courses.Conclusion:The year prevalence of acupuncture utilization in women, people aged between25-34, divorced or widowed, Salary more than﹩20,000are more. No education or primary educatio are less. It may be related to their needs, thoughts, education and economic status. When government formulatethe health care policy, they can take those data for references. See how to get more people who haven’t done acupuncture to try in order to help them getting better health.In clinical, the government was proposed additional funding to reduce the public’s burden and increase the practitioners’ clinical training. In research, more researches in different diseases can be done in order to increase public confidence in acupuncture.More theoretical researchof Chinese medicine can be done so that characteristic of traditional Chinese medicine (bian zheng lun zhi) can be developed continually. In education, the physiotherapy course is proposed to increase morenon-Chinese medicine theory content. The PhD programs in acupuncture is also proposed in Hong Kong.
