The Vietnamese ancient monuments heritage have many important signification in Vietnamese culture, they also contribute to culture diversity of mankind. This texts deseribes a piece of basic research on the theory system of Vietnamese ancient monuments heritage conservation. It discusses : The research and analyze on the classification, characteristics and main factors in the destruction of the Vietnamese ancient monumentss; The important signification and value evaluation of the Vietnamese ancient monumentss; The state system of the Vietnamese ancient monuments restoration and conservation.; The definition, contents and principles of "conservation and restoration" in the Vietnamese ancient monuments conservation.In the list above, the research on the important signification and important signification evaluation, the state system and the definition, contents and principles of "conservation" is both the main point with which the basic viewpoint of the thesis is concisely expressed and the center point around which the theoretical construction the thesis is performed."Important signification" is a basic issue in the ancient monuments conservation. The thesis attempts to complement and perfect the definition of this concept, thus suggests that "conservation" is all action and activity so long as it is, based on the understanding of the ancient monumentss themselves and their historical environments, to maintain their safety and good status, supposes that "conservation and restoration" should consists of research, construction technology interfering, exhibiting, utilizing, improving and developing, environmental restoring, educating and managing, et cetera, along with making explanation and research on their essential materials and basic principles. The protection of the ancient monuments is to,ultimately, protect the culture deep within every piece of the ancient monumentss, and the history they witnessed and recorded.
