With the increase of vehicle ownership, there will be more than 4 million cars to be scrapped annually. It is estimated that this amount will surpass 14 million in 2020. Because improper treatment to the scrapped vehicles had led to more and more serious problems on energy consumption and environment, reproduction is an effective method to recycle the scrapped vehicles. Under the support of national policy, our country’s vehicle engine reproduction industry had grown from nothing and developed rapidly. How to evaluate the energy consumption and emission reproduction of engine had become the focus of the industry. As a newly emerging industry, what economic benefits will the reproduction of engine bring to the enterprise and society? Are there suitable business model to promote its rapid sound and sustainable development? All those can only be recognized through detailed economic analysis and all life cycle energy conservation and pollution reduction evaluation.At present, the research on the reproduction of vehicles’ comprehensive performance evaluation has just begun. The comprehensiveness and systematicness of life cycle evaluation need to be further improved. Professional database has not been constructed, economic study still need support from scientific theoretical model and investigation of actual situation data. In this paper, the model which includes two mainlines was developed, one was systemic dynamic economic analysis model, the other was life cycle energy-efficient and emission-reduction evaluation model. Meanwhile, the WD615.50 engine produced by Weichai Power Remanufacturing Company was selected as an example to evaluate its comprehensive performance. The main research contents are listed as follows.(1) An engine reproduction economic analysis model was set up based on systemic dynamic. With the employment of VENSIM platform in system dynamics, by the step of variables selecting, flow chats designing, equation debugging validation synaptic, and commissioning, we finished the model. The established model integrates the production, profits, costs and benefits, and thus can quantitatively evaluate simulate dynamically and sensitivity analysis the economic benefits of various engines (the scrapped vehicle engines, overhauled vehicle engines and contracting vehicle engines) through multiple perspectives. The empirical study was conducted with the reproduced engine of Weichai as a case by means of brainstorming, expert interviewing, scenario analysis, actual investigations and independent variables selecting. Then the production, costs, economic benefits and profits of a single were analyzed by using the Graphs in VENSIM with multi-angle, far-sight and all domains. Furthermore, according to the results getting from dynamic analysis, the sensitivity analysis of economic benefits was conducted from recovery, re-usage and recycling price, by which we can watch the economic benefits change alone with each factor’s change clearly.(2) The assessment model of energy-efficient and emission-reduction of the reproduction engine was developed. The basic concepts, key technology, technical requirement and main technological process on reproducing spare parts were summed up, furthermore, the differences on reproduced engine and new engine from aspects of source of raw materials, semi finished products production, processing technology and business model, etc. were analyzed. Based on the differences on reproduction engine and new engine, by using linear algebra and calculus, the assessment model of energy-efficient and emission-reduction of the reproduction was set up with LCA theory and circular economic ideology. The performance of material-consumption, energy-efficient and emission-reduction of the engine can be evaluated accurately. In the specific application, we just need to update the underlying data and inventory data of reproduced engine, then substitute the data to the model to calculate. The model was not only the basic theory and method, but also the calculation algorithm of the evaluation software system.(3) The assessment system of energy-efficient and emission-reduction of the reproduction engine was developed. By using oracle database to design a chart, acquiring material and energy basic data to support the basic data calculation, the development of the data management system was developed, which includes interface, login screen, description interface and function interface. Then based on the model, we designed the calculation module and visualization module by using Java. The development of the whole assessment system was finished, which can achieve the goals of application widely. Now, the assessment system is applying for the software copyright of Copyright Protection Center of China. The Weichai WD615.50 engine was selected as an example, the engine BOM chart and data of manufacturing assembling process were obtained from the research center of enterprise, workshop and service sector. By substituting the data to the model, we can calculate the material-consumption, energy-efficient and emission-reduction exactly and quickly.Based on the results of economic analysis and the assessment of energy-efficient and emission-reduction, in the view of condition of country, we can put forward the countermeasures and policy recommendations for the reproduction of engine though policies and regulations of government, technology and business model of enterprise and buying behavior of consumer.At last, the paper forecasted the hot issues in the field of vehicle engine reproduction from the aspects of the relation between economy and energy conservation and pollution reduction, reverse logistics of vehicle and policy simulation, etc. The outcome of the study can provide a reference for the policy-making and standard-setting of the vehicle engine reproduction industry, also can help the enterprise to set up the improvement plan for energy conservation and pollution reduction and new market exploitation in cycle economy.
