Study On Interior Design In The Context Of Modern Art

Interior design is not only a kind of material production, but also has the characteristics ofsociety, culture and art, which make the interior design to gain more and moreunpredictable significance. This paper is concerned with the systematic study on interiordesign in the context of modern art to explore the correlation between them. On the basis of thehistorical development of modern art, it demonstrates the influence of modern art movement oninterior design and the penetrations of each other through the study of aesthetic generality of artand interior design, the overall study of the impact of modern art concept for space form and thecase study and typical study. This paper analyzes the typical historical fragments to refineand derive the theoretical results of interior design in the context of art. It deeply analyzes thespecific facts of the cases to promote effective links and transformation between theory andinterior design practice, which determine the theoretical value of this study.Basing on the collection and analysis of design thought and aesthetic ideas of artists anddesigners, the study of the aesthetic common characteristics discusses one by one the five pointof “abstract thoughts”,“the idea of the future”,“properties of study and criticism”,“novelty” and“discuss right” and focuses on two important points of abstract thought and discuss right. Itestablishes an aesthetic origin of the study.On the basis above, this paper cuts into the development of space forms, the core field ofinterior design and focuses on “elementary thoughts” and “simultaneity” to expand the overallstudy of the impact of these two concepts of modern art on interior design. This part of thestudy fills a gap in the field of interior design research. Firstly, it demonstrates the influence ofelementary thoughts on space forms composition of interior environment by thorough anddetailed analysis of the painting origin of the element, the introduction of element into interiordesign and the evolution of elementary thoughts in the field of interior design. Secondly, itexpounds the influence of the concept of simultaneity on space forms of interior design from twoaspects of the viewing approach (the viewer angle) and the organization method (the designerangle) of interior space on the basis of hackling the space-time view in the field of painting andinterior design.Based on the overall cognition of space forms of interior design in the context of modern artfrom the perspective of art concept and with the clue of time of development of modern artmovements, this paper makes a detailed interpretation on the cases of the impact of modern arton interior design. It mainly demonstrates that Cubism, Futurism, Expressionism, De Stijl,Purism and Constructivism, these six art movements innovate and expand art thinking and bringsa lot of inspirations for modern interior design on the design techniques, especially the designideas and skills of interior design implied in the artistic means of artists. Concretely speaking,, Itincludes the establishment of painting syntax of Cubism and the enlightenment from the newconcept of space to interior design, the futuristic practice on the link of concepts of mechanical movements and dynamism, the Similarity between expressionist paintings and interior design inphilosophy, composition pattern of groups and exhibitions and the concept of “Gesamtkunstwerk”and the foreseeing of Futurism on the development of interior design, the correspondence ontechniques of De Stijl paintings and interior design, the parallel development of purist paintingsand interior design styles and the methodological approach of Constructivism provided forinterior design in terms of structure, materials and space. The purpose of this section isto analyze the internal and external causes of the development of interior design and to describedevelopment situation of interior design on the context of modern art comprehensively andsystematically. This part of the study develops a new vision of interior design research anddemonstrates a research method of interior design in view of art. It not only enriches the existingtheoretical research achievements, but also establishes the methodology value of theoretical studyof interior design.Finally, this paper selects Bauhaus as a typical case study, which is the integral study basedon previous differential researches. It mainly proves the transformation of the educations andideas caused by the alternation of modern art schools stated above in Bauhaus. Especiallythe research of the innovation of Bauhaus interior design has the groundbreakingsignificance in the Bauhaus case study. It studies interior design from three aspects of the courseof interior design, interior design educations and thoughts. And it corrects the long-timemisreading on the Bauhaus interior design on past research which equated architecture withinterior design and directly extended the architecture traits of gray white and cube into theinterior.
