With economic development and the accelerated pace of urbanization, citieshave been in the formation, development and expansion. The city’s development hasbecome a witness of rapid economic, which not only means city number increasing, but also the rapid expansion of urban population size and urban space. The interaction and coordination of urban infrastructure and urban spaceevolution, is going through the whole process of urban development. In everyspecial stage of city development, there have always been the correspondingchanges in urban infrastructure, and vice versa, the corresponding changes in urbaninfrastructure seriously react on urban space evolution. The city is a complex socio-economic system, and a certain geographical centerof political, economic and cultural. Infrastructure plays an important role in cityevolution. To ensure the city operation, there must be a complete urbaninfrastructure system. Urban infrastructure is a complex subsystem in the city socialsystem, which shows its unique and important role, and has been paid more andmore attention, in a number of factors influencing the urban space evolution. Therefore, the paper deeply researches on the development law and interactionmechanism between urban infrastructure and urban spatial evolution. The features of urban infrastructure and urban space are identical and similar, with the mutual influence and interaction between them. Urban space evolution hasthree forms: a simple form, a structure form, and a distribution form. Thedevelopment of urban infrastructure can also be classified as three types:‘advanced’ type,‘synchronization’ type and ‘hysteresis’ type. In the interaction andmutual influence process of infrastructure development and urban space evolution,a close study of the impact and the relationships role between the two has beengoing on, by the three type concepts of infrastructure development. In the threestages of the city, the urban first-built period, the urban development and urbanstable period, phase characteristics and the interaction rules between infrastructureand urban space evolution are different. On macro-level,there is the reciprocity between urban infrastructure andstructure evolution, density evolution, scale evolution, and form evolution of urbanspace. Infrastructure facilitates gathering same features and building multiplefunctions of urban space, and interferes, promotes, inhibits or competes on theconversion of urban space functions. Different types of infrastructure developmentdetermine the maximum and the appropriate size of urban space, and also providesome flexibility protection. Infrastructure construction affects the way, controls the speed and regulates the order of urban space evolution. Infrastructure developmentoften directs the structure and scale evolution of urban space. Vice verse, urbanspace structure evolution to high density or low density, and space function change, will have different effects on infrastructure development. The evolution of urbanspace scale will affect the total amount, construction technology and networkingconstruction of infrastructure. The different paths and ways of urban spaceevolution determine infrastructure development in different directions. Formevolution of urban space often decisively react infrastructure development. On micro-level, the urban infrastructure system and urban space have closeinteraction relationship. Roads&transportation system adjusts load space by timingdimension, mines multi-function subsidiary space, and adds facilities for complexfunctions. At the same time, the feasible design of roads&transportation system, satisfies the demand of urban space on the functional requirements, lessinterference and more people use requirements. Water supply and drainageinfrastructure, landscape&sanitation infrastructure and disaster prevention andsafety infrastructure, should focus on the relationship between upper urban spaceand under facilities. While urban space proposes landscape and ecologicalrequirements for infrastructure. Landscape art reexpresses the infrastructure, makesit a more attractive, more efficient, more capable of city services, and moreconcerned about the environment. In the final, the paper establishes the construction goal of Harbin sustainableurban development, pointing out that urban infrastructure planning and urban spaceoptimization are the essential means of sustainable urban development and animportant guarantee. After reviewing history of Harbin city, and how urban spaceand urban infrastructure changing along with it, the paper constructs theirreciprocity analytical model. After setting the development goals of Harbin in theprocess of urbanization in the environmental, infrastructure and urban space, toaccelerate the sustainable development, the paper proposes the establishment ofsustainable urban development under the virtuous circle model. In order to build asustainable development city, urban space should determine a reasonable scale, clear form, and adjust structure and density; vice verse, the sustainabledevelopment of urban infrastructure system strongly supports sustainabledevelopment of urban space evolution.
