Urban was a main human habitat and had played a significant role in thedevelopment of society. However, urbanization with high speed not only bought theeconomic and social prosperity but also bought exhaustion, environmental pollutionand ecological damage. Eco-city, built based on ecological principles, was consideredto be the best model for future urban development. It was the new social relationcombining the coordinated development of society, economy and nature. It was alsothe new production mode and lifestyle that could achieve sustainable developmentthrough effective use of environmental resource.Evaluation of eco-city had been a research focus at home and abroad, manyscholars analyzed the development of eco-city through setting up indicator systembased on society, economy and environment, however, their researches ignored therelevance of internal elements and coordinated development. In this paper, the authorat first established eco-city complex system conceptual model, emphasized theintegrity of urban ecosystem and internal correlation and coordination of each element.Then, the author suggested that evaluation of eco-city should be quantitativelyanalysed from three perspectives-ability of sustainable development, ecologicalsecurity and coordination. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of Hanguecological zone were assessed, recommendations and measures were proposed.The research result showed2005-2009Hangu sustainable development abilityindicators were0.705,0.713,0.732,0.768,0.796, which indicated that the researcharea had high sustainable development capacity and had entered fast developmentstage.2005-2009ecological coordination correlation coefficients were0.654,0.649,0.653,0.631,0.625, which showed that in the process of high speed development,Hangu lacks of coordination of economy, society and environment, the urban complexsystem coordination had been declining.2005-2009Hangu urban ecological securitycoefficients were0.016,0.017,0.019,0.020, the rating scale increased from two tothree, from the relative safety level to the critical safety level, which meant althoughHangu ecological safety level had been rising, there were still some hidden dangers inits ecological system.
