Energy Structure And Extensive Economic Growth

Since the reform and opening up, China's economy has kept the momentum of fast growth continuously, but the economic growth pattern of our country remains the extensive characteristic. The government also attaches great importance to changing the economic growth pattern and has taken a lot of measures. But according to benefit of economic operation of our country, our economic growth has not yet got rid of the extensive economic growth pattern which mainly relies on the impulse of the factor input. Energy is the important input element in the economic growth of our country, and the change of the energy factor has been influencing the prosperity and continuous increase of the economy of our country directly. As an important influence factor of energy system, energy structure influences the economic growth and the transition of the economic growth pattern as well. The optimization adjustment of the energy structure is the breakthrough to changes the extensive economic growth pattern of our country.Basing on the economic growth and relevant theories of energy economy, this thesis has studied the relation between our country's energy structure and economic growth pattern. It also has studied and analyzed the impact of energy structure on energy efficiency, energy consumption and disposal of pollutants on the basis of the countrywide and interprovincial data, calculated and proved that the energy structure of our country really has prominent influence on the economic growth pattern, then finally analyzed the factors influencing energy structure.First of all, it is concluded that the economic growth of our country has still been extensive after analyzing the input and output of the economic benefits since China's reform and opening up, and economic growth are mainly promoted by the increase of the factor input. The characteristic of the extensive economic growth pattern in our country is high investment, poor efficiency, high discharge and inconsistency, and it is influenced by economic growth period, system, economic structure, scientific and technological level and energy structure. Secondly, on the basis of analyzing current situation of our energy economy and energy structure, it studied the relation of energy, energy structure, economic growth and economic growth pattern; it is believed that there is mutual influence between the energy structure and economic growth pattern. Furthermore, because of the extensive growth of the economy, the influence of the economic growth on the energy factor should be more obvious. Through ARDL method it has demonstrated the relation of energy consumption, energy structure and economic growth, verified the above analysis of the relation between energy structure and economic growth pattern. After defining the current situation of economic growth pattern of our country and its relation with energy structure, the thesis has studied in detail the impact of energy structure on the economic growth pattern through energy system. The research is carried on through the impact of energy structure on energy efficiency, energy consumption and environmental pollution. Through the studies of energy structure and energy efficiency, it is obvious that among the energy structures of our country, the proportion of coal consumption notably influences the manifestation of our energy efficiency. In the energy consumption structure of the whole country and the three main areas, the raise of coal consumption hinders the increase of energy efficiency, while such effect is fainter at counting in the east and middle part of our country because of the reasonable energy structure there. Our energy consumption concentrates on secondary industry mainly, while heavy chemical industrial department, communication and transportation business and household energy department consume the most energy and coal, and the above departments are the worst concerning of energy efficiency. Research of Energy structure and energy consumption finds that the consumption of secondary industry is the largest no matter it is indirect or direct consumption. Heavy chemical industrial department, transportation and construction industry largely rely on the development of energy industry, which proves again the section structure of the energy consumption has the closest connection with industrial structure. The study of energy structure and environmental pollution shows that with the same consumption of energy, the pollutant discharged by coal counts the most. Reducing consumption proportion of coal and strengthening other energy consumption proportion can obviously reduce the environmental pollution brought by energy. Finally, based on the above research, the thesis has made a detailed analysis of the factors in the whole country and three major areas that have the impact on energy structure, including energy policy, energy natural endowment, industrial structure, science and technology, energy price urbanization and life style, etc. It is found that the above-mentioned factors basically exert identical influence to each of the main areas, among which the influence of urbanization level to Midwest is comparatively obvious, while its influence to the whole country and the east is not prominent enough.Combining with the relevant theories and empirical research, this thesis draws the conclusion that the energy structure of our country has a prominent influence on energy efficiency, energy consumption and environmental pollution. It is through the influence towards the above-mentioned factors that energy structure affects the economic growth pattern. One breakthrough to change economic growth pattern is the optimization adjustment of energy structure. Given these research findings, this text has proposed recommendations of optimizing the energy structure and changing the policy on the economic growth pattern.
