Products Division Of Labor Under The Conditions Of China's Manufacturing Trade With The U.s. Study

From the perspective of Intra-product Specialization, a new form of international division which has emerged and increasingly deepened in recent decades, this thesis sorts out its concept as well as real state, and meanwhile gives an analysis of the inner mechanism and influencing factors of its emergence. On that basis, it also makes calculations on the extent of Intra-product Specialization in Sino-US manufacturing trade and trade interest exists in the export of China's manufacturing industry to U.S.A, gives tests on various factors that affect Sino-US trade imbalance under the background of Intra-product Specialization, and also makes measurement on the technology distribution of manufacturing products of China and U.S.A.In the view of this thesis, Sino-US manufacturing trade is a trade with increasing Intra-product Specialization, and it embodies the typical features. In the Intra-product Specialization system, Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taiwan, ASEAN countries and together with China forms a comparatively independent production system that exports to U.S.A. This trade flow will inevitably lead to the result that Asian countries' trade surplus to U.S.A will be transferred to China. Therefore, Sino-US trade imbalance is virtually a kind of structural gap. If the relative positions of China and U.S.A in current international production system remain unchanged, and if China can't accomplish its industrial upgrading in the global value chain, it is foreseeable that Sino-US trade imbalance will exist in a long run and continue to be profoundly affected by Intra-product Specialization, the new form of division to a large degree.It is also the view that because of the emergence of Intra-product Specialization, the structure and nature of international trade have been fundamentally changed. The overall production or value-adding process of a product or service is no longer completed in one country. As a result, while overthrowing the principle of existing international trade statistics system, Intra-product Specialization will over-estimate China's trade interest and technical structure of export commodities. So under the background of Intra-product Specialization, new mechanism has to be adopted to better calculate China's trade interest and technical structure of export commodities, who mostly assumes low value-added production process. In conclusion, as Intra-product Specialization and its trade theory is a major innovation inheriting the established international trade theoretical basis. We should strengthen the research on Intra-product Specialization theory and as for China, we should conduct research and design international trade statistics system that can truly represent the feature of Intra-product Specialization. Taking the opportunity of Intra-product Specialization as the new form of international division, we can propel the upgrading of industrial structure. Therefore, we can build and perfect production network, develop service trade, emphasize human capital investment & IPR protection as well as encourage independent innovation.
