The competition advantage of industry cluster lies in the beneficial effects it releases which is not only the origin of the cluster competitiveness but also the reasonable basis of cluster entity. The high degree of competitive and cooperative atmosphere inside the industry cluster makes the enterprises devide the production process much more professionally and subtly, which make it possible that less cost and more frequency of technical innovation can be attained. Owning to the distinct industrial , regional and network characteristics of the industry cluster, the industry international competitiveness can be greatly improved along with the implementation of industrial cluster strategy for those industries which have the characteristics of long production chain and obvious circumbendibus production mode.Auto industry has higher relevancy and long production chain compared with other industries, because of which it depends much on others as well as boosts them greatly. The implementation of industrial cluster strategy can greatly facilitate the progress of auto industry. High degree of the production process partition inside the industrial cluster reduce the production and trade cost greatly,from which confluent force from the whole production chain has come into being and result in strong industrial competitiveness.With the proceeding of auto industry globalization,great change has taken place in the layout of China auto industry, which appears obvious regional comcentration trend. However there is no real auto industry cluster in China besides the production concentration in some regions. From the perspective of industry competitiveness, many problems still appear as low-technical content,small scale, weak innovative capability of R&D and lack of own brand in China auto industry. To change this condition entirely, industry cluster strategy should be implemented without any delay so that global competitiveness of China auto industry can be improved.How does the auto industry come into being? Where does its competitiveness come from? From the terms of inner and outer formative reason the mechanism is studied in the text. The current condition of some of the auto industrial clusters all over the world and China have been compared and discussed as well as their characteristics and causes. Finally relevant strategic steps and policy suggestions has been put up so that relevant workers can get a clear and comprehensive idea about the real competitiveness of China auto industry and make our best to boost the earlier form of auto clusters in China.The dissertation is organized as follows:Chapter One presents the context of this study and theoretical fundmentals. The auto industrial cluster theory are fairly sufficiently analyzed,summarized and expanded; Hence the application of the related theories are further broadened and deepened. The practical significance for this dissertation– an in-depth research on china auto industrial cluster– is pointed out, the technical route map is designed and the key issues for concern are identified .ChapterTwo has defined the concept and classification of auto product , seven characteristics of auto industry are summarized. The research scope of the dissertation contains auto manufacture and auto distribution and auto aftersale service; Next the classification and concept of auto industrial cluster are indentified and its characteristics are discussed.. Finally the premise of the study is indentified.Chapter Three has put great emphasis on the research of outer drives of auto industrial cluster, which is indentified as industrial capital environment, social capital and regional industrial culture that are essential for the forming and development of auto industrial cluster. On the basis of the above discuss the establishment of the various platforms such as capital resources,social capital and industrial culture is deeply analized.Chapter Four has mainly discussed the inner drives of auto industrial cluster which are characterized as logic relationship between technical capability of industrial cluster and its development, construction of the logistic system and cluster network system which is beneficial for the future development of auto industrial cluster. On the basis of the above studies the establishment of various platforms such as technology capability, logistic operation system and network system is discussed.On the basis of the Chapter Three and Chapter Four, along with the construction of three–dimensional analysis model the forming mechanism of auto industrial cluster has been thoroughly analized. The three includes macroscopical influential facters (industrial environment), midscopical influential factors (industrial development) and microscopical bodies(enterprises). The conclusion is that industrial cluster is greatly influenced by the mutual function of the three aspects. Finally the functions of the network nodes inside the auto cluster are analyzed and described.Chapter Six has put great effort on the studies of the competitiveness of the auto industrial cluster. Firstly the origin of the industrial cluster competitiveness is analysed. Secondly the competitiveness estimate model of auto industrial cluster is constructed and with the help of AHP fuzzy comprehensive judgement, the competitiveness of China auto industrial clusters in different regions is evaluated and compared with each other, upon which the reason is detailed at the end.After quantitative analysis of China auto industrial cluster, Chapter Seven reachs the conclusion that auto industry has showed collective trend in some regions. In addition, the results also indicate that auto industry has strong relevancy and conspicuous scale-economic effects. The industrial cluster will promote auto industry development greatly and its conglomeration indicates positive relevant phenomenon with gross production value of auto industry; The conglomeration of different industry has different effect on the industrial improvement and high congregation degree of the auto industry would imply much for the future development of auto industry.Chapter Eight introduces the layout of China auto industrial cluster as a whole and some famous clusters in the world are also mentioned at the same time. Major emphasis is put on the the six typical auto clusters in China; Then the mechanism is studied owing to which current auto clusters have come into being. Finally the impacts on the auto clusters competitiveness of economic and market globalization is analysed from three aspects: open market, FDI effects and international management strategy. The conclusion is that productivity can be greatly improved and cluster effect can be released in very short time if we can make reasonable use of production elements and economical geographic flux.On the basis of the previous discussion Chapter Nine details china auto industry cluster by the means of SWOT analysis tool, and strategic steps and policy suggestion have been pointed out which include four combinations of strength-opportunity, strength-threat,weak-opportunity and weak threat. The text has also defined the cluster brand and investigated the ways of cluster brand building. Finally life cycle theory of industrial cluster is studied and the conclusion illuminates that China auto industrial clusters are on their growing stage and relevant policy advices have been probed at the same time.Chapter Ten concerns the conclusion and outlook. The major conclusions are summarized and insufficiency of this dissertation is disclosed in view of following up studies.This dissertation, as a whole, pays attention to the combination of theoretical and empirical studies, with practical utility research emphasized. It conducts a thorough and innovative study on the theories concerning china auto industrial cluster.Nevertheless, some questions are still left without an insight constrained by the limited time and knowledge of the author. For instance, what is on earth the effect of the property right structure of state-owned auto groups on the further development of the auto cluster? How to design the client-deputy operational system for the state-owned auto firms? How to prevent the moral risk and power privacy behavior of all-level supervisors which are prevalent in the state-owned firms? What is the systematical obstruction inside China auto industrial clusters? How to decentralize and rationalize the property right of the state-owned auto firms and what is practical effects on China auto industry? These are just the matter for concern for our further study.
