With the diversification of customers' demands, the increase of market competition, and the development of information technology, enterprises are getting to rely on advanced information system in order to manage their enterprise resources, and improve the ability of quick response to market changes and clients' demands, and strengthen their competitive power. Therefore, enterprises began to use Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP)system. However, the value of ERP projects in many firms has not been realized completely, and correspondingly, the anticipated objective of firms is not reached. The main reason is that those firms didn't use and assimilate ERP system efficiently, while ERP system can only be influential to firms' performance when ERP system is used and assimilated efficiently.Based on the survey of ERP assimilation and the review of previous researches, the author concludes that in order to realize efficient ERP assimilation there are at least two problems to be solved:①how many influence factors of ERP assimilation and how much their importance?②what are the interrelationship of influence factors and the effect mechanism of each factor on ERP assimilation?Centering around the above two problems, with the logical process of "technical factor, environmental factor→organizational factor→ERP assimilation", and from an integration perspective, this dissertation studies technical, environmental, and organizational factors which influence ERP assimilation and their effect mechanism theoretically and experimentally. The main contributions are as follows:①The relationship between organizational factor(top management support, perceived usefulness, user attitude)and ERP assimilation.②The relationship between technical factor(ERP organizational fit)and ERP assimilation.③The relationship between technical factor(ERP organizational fit)and organizational factor(perceived usefulness, user attitude).④The relationship between environmental factor(institutional pressures)(ERP organizational fit)and ERP assimilation.⑤The relationship between environmental factor(institutional pressures)(ERP organizational fit)and organizational factor(top management support, user attitude).⑥Analysis of the interrelationship of technical factor(ERP organizational fit),organizational factor(top management support, perceived usefulness, user attitude)and environmental factor(institutional pressures),and research on the influence function mechanism of these factors on ERP assimilation. On the basis of the survey of 263 firms which have implemented ERP system, it is found that:①Organizational factor(top management support, perceived usefulness, and user attitude)is an important influence factor of ERP assimilation. The stronger the top management support, perceived usefulness, and user attitude are,the higher the ERP organizational assimilation degree is,where organizational factors(top management support, perceived usefulness, and user attitude)with inner relationship among themselves have hierarchical influence on ERP assimilation.②Organizational fit of ERP(process fit, system quality fit,and information quality fit)is an important factor of ERP assimilation. The higher the ERP organizational fit degree is,the higher the ERP organizational assimilation is.③Institutional pressures(coercive pressures, mimetic pressures, normative pressures)are important influence factors of ERP assimilation. The stronger the coercive pressures, mimetic pressures and normative pressures are,the higher the ERP organizational assimilation is.④Organizational fit of ERP(process fit, system quality fit,and information quality fit)and perceived usefulness have significant effect on ERP assimilation, where organizational fit of ERP is an indirect factor of ERP assimilation and perceived usefulness is a direct influence factor of ERP assimilation.Perceived usefulness has an intermediate function between organizational fit of ERP and ERP assimilation.⑤Institutional pressures(coercive pressures, mimetic pressures, and normative pressures)and top management support have significant effect on ERP assimilation, where top management support and normative pressures are direct influence factors of ERP assimilation and coercive pressures and mimetic pressures are indirect influence factors of ERP assimilation.Top management support has important intermediate function between coercive pressures, mimetic pressures and ERP assimilation.⑥It is more reasonable to express ERP assimilation considering synthetically the influence of technical factors(organizational fit of ERP),organizational factors(top management support, perceived usefulness, and user attitude),environmental factor(institutional pressures)and their interrelationship than considering respectively the influence of each factor on EPR assimilation.Compared with previous relevant researches, the main innovation of this dissertation is as follows:①Different form previous researches, this dissertation takes ERP assimilation in the post-implementation stage as research object. It extends ERP theory research by extending ERP research from the usage and implementation stage to post-implementation assimilation stage.②With technical, organizational and environmental factors as important influence factors of ERP assimilation, and with a deep analysis of their interrelationship, the intermediate model of "technical factor, environmental factor→organizational factor→ERP assimilation" is formed and tested. Thus, the influence function mechanism of technical factor(organizational fit of ERP)and environmental factor(institutional pressures)on organizational assimilation of ERP with the intermediate of organizational factor(top management support, perceived usefulness, and user attitude)is explored.③In terms of the characteristics of ERP system in the post-implementation stage, this dissertation extends organizational fit of ERP theory by defining the connotation of organizational fit of ERP in three the aspects of process fit, system quality fit,and information quality fit.④TOE analytical framework is used to analyze the factors in the post-implementation stage of ERP system. The applicability of TOE analytical framework in analyzing the influence factors of ERP assimilation in the post-implementation stage is tested. Therefore, the application range of TOE analytical framework is extended. Finally, some shortcomings of this dissertation are also analyzed so that further research can be improved. |
