As a branch of economics, consumption economics was promoted since the1930's and being matured gradually after the 1950's. John Maynard Keynes founded the consumption theory under absolute income hypothesis. In recent years there are three scholars whose Nobel Prize for Economics have direct connection with the research of consumption. They are Milton Friedman who put forth consumption theory under relative income hypothesis, Franco Modigliani who put forth consumption theory under life cycle hypothesis, Gary S. Becker who expanded the scope of microeconomic analysis to the subdivided scopes of consumption.Studying consumption economic problem should exert quantitative analysis. It is because for the economic phenomena in the world of consumption, the quantitative relationships are very complicated. No matter residential incomes, consumption expenditure, consumption level, consumption structure, they all possess specific quantitative prescriptions, exist complicated quantitative interdependency. Based on large quantities of statistical data, methods of quantitative analysis should be used to interpret the basic quantitative relations and their forms, which are important means to reveal the laws of economic development in the world of consumption. It is the first time that this thesis enumerates the related problems of consumption economy from the logic of quantitative economics, paying attention to the intersection and fusion of several academic disciplines, combining macroeconomics, microeconomics, macro-econometrics, microeconometrics, consumption economics, macroeconomic statistics, consumption statistics, information economics and other subjects. This research enriches the quantitative analytical methods of consumption economy gradually, and furthermore, deals with the residential consumption of Fujian province, carries through intensive research. And suggestions were put forth according to the results of analysis.This paper is structured as follows: The first chapter is the introduction of the whole thesis. Chapter 2 does research on the relationships between consumption and economic growth from the macroeconomic view, combining the methods of economic statistics and classical econometrics.
