Research On Key Technologies Of Large-scale Digital Content Distribution Network

With the rapid growth of the number of Internet users and resources, large-scale digital contents distribution technologies become a hot topic in both academia and industry. Nowadays, CDN (Content Delivery Network) and P2P (Peer-to-Peer) are two dominant technologies for large-scale con-tent distribution, and they complement each other. Digital Audio/Video con-tent collection and divery platform is one classic application of contents dis-tribution technologies. Further, this kind of platforms are composed of sev-eral key technologies, including contents distribution technologies, media resource management technologies, network copyright protection technolo-gies and so on.Contribution of the work is as follows,1. A novel architecture for large-scale digital content network distribu-tion is proposed, in which CDN and P2P are integrated together. Me-thod for content routing is given and performance is evaluated by a model based on Fluid Model.2. Supported by Chinese National Key Technologies R&D Program under Grant No.2006BAH02A11, a Digital Audio/Video content col-lection and divery platform is designed and implemented. Several key technologies are integrated in this platform, such as contents dis-tribution technologies, media resource management technologies, network copyright protection technologies and intelengent terminal technologies.3. Tests on functions, performance and other parameters are conducted in lab envirement. Effectiveness and usability of this platform are tested by small scale deployment and demonstrion.
