Republic Daily Literary Supplement Study (1916-1924)

Shanghai "Republic Daily",established in 1916,was an influential Modern Newspaper at that time and later. Representative scholars,such as Ye Chucang,Shao Lizi,Liu Yazi,Yao yuanchu,Chen shewo,Tai Chi-tao,Shen Xuan lu had been gathered in the newspaper supplement. From the early newspaper supplement of "Republic Daily" to the newspaper supplement of "Consciousness" which established in 1919, the change of nespaper thinking and editorial idea reflected China's modern newspaper supplement going from immature to mature form one side.This article make a study during the time when Shanghai "Republic Daily" supplement established to the time when the newspaper came in 1924 reorganized as the official newspaper of the Kuomintang,totally 8 years.The article is based on observing the writing published in supplement from the angle of the ontology based literature, discussing the relationship between social changes and newspaper editors thought,how the modern journalist groups formed when the traditional scholars being in the environmental impact and how the literary supplement gradually formed its own characteristics as part of mass media.The introduction mainly describes the origin of the topics, present results of research,gaps and deficiencies.Clarify this article's research methods, research focus and research ideas.Chapter One is the outline, do the general summary of the history of the Chinese newspaper supplement before the birth of Shanghai "Republic Daily ".Introduce Shanghai"Republic Daily"and its supplements'background of birth,and classify it through the featured content of supplement.Chapter Two mainly introduce the period of "previous consciousness", the situation from the eastablishment of Shanghai "Republic Daily" to the birth of"Consciousness" in 1919.The article introduce the novel,drama and poetry features published in the supplement at that time,which in the way of style-classification.Meanwhile,through the analysis of specific authors and works,this article discuss "Republic Daily"'s different ways in handling the traditional concept of to different literary——"Elegance"and"Popular", the historical reasons in forming this style.Chapter Three discuss the supplement of "Consciousness",from its birth to 1924.It involves weekly publication and ten-days publication published by"Republic Daily" at that time. It explore the features and characteristics that the supplements of mature newspaper literary should possess,which through the change process that "Consciousness"'s simple pursuit of literary ideology and abandon the "radical" of the literature to the literary character's stepwise regression of "stable".Chapter Four study the Shanghai "Republic Daily"'s supplement group,specific analyse different literary groups'influence on the style in supplement of Shanghai "Republic Daily" in different periods,and Modern Press impact the traditional scholar on the ideas.Chapter Five study the supplement of "Morning News",which has national impact as the supplement of "Republic Daily".This article make the comparison of similarities and differences between Shanghai"Republic Daily"supplement and "Morning News"supplement,and investigate some regularity of the problem.
