This paper proposes the software architecture of NGBSS (New Generation Business Support System) for China telecoms. The NGBSS architecture incorporated some new achievements from studies on software architecture and NGOSS (New Generation Operation System and Software) from TM forum. As an example, an implementation domain specific framework for telecommunication business support system in China is given, and some key techniques are discussed in detail. In addition, a formal description for the software architecture of NGBSS is presented in order to understand and reason accurately. Finally, some advices are suggested for the transition of the business support system from old one.The originality of the paper includes:1. The software architecture of NGBSS for China telecom is proposed.The paper surveyed the requirements of telecoms in China, such as China mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom, analyzed the characteristics of business support systems in telecommunication domain and the international trends in software architecture of telecommunication business support system. Based on the investigations above, the software architecture of NGBSS is proposed, the main aspects and techniques adapted in the software architecture of NGBSS are layered style, component technique, distributed structure and centralized data, etc.2. Design and a partial implementation of telecommunication domain specific framework for telecommunication business support system in China.Having thoroughly analyzed the business support system of China telecoms, the paper designed and gave a partial implementation of a telecommunication domain specific framework for the telecommunication business support system, including the framework design, the component separation, design and implementation.3. Some principles and methods for component separations.In the design of the software architecture of NGBSS, the separation of the component is difficult. According to the characteristics of the telecommunication business support system, the paper summarized some separation rules to acquire and identify the components. That is, each component should be independent, the data and the logic should be separated and the component should not across the layer. The principles and method are exemplified in detail by the components in the framework of the business support system.4. Some advices for the transition of the business support system.Transition to NGBSS from old one is a tough task. The paper gives some advices for smoothly transition. The advices will not only protects the investment assets but also assure the reliability and consistency of the system. It is a recommended guideline for telecoms to implement NGBSS.
