As the expression of users' emotional requirements, the User Perception Information (UPI) is an important media through which users and designers exchange information and communicate. The acquisition of effective UPI could help designers obtaining users' true emotions and expectations along with their emotion recognitions to the products, and thus help making an effective decision to design a product. This kind of UPI were of huge amount, and hard to be delivered rationally by users. As a result, taking use of an automatic simulation and optimization mechanism to dig out users' latent emotional requirements from objective information of both market and experiment could guide and assist the process of product conceptual design, and thus enhance veracity and validity of design orientations and decisions.This research is a multi-subject work which involves Design Artistic, Cognitive Psychology, Artificial Intelligence, CAD etc. And the dissertation began with the analysising of process of product concepture design and the user' s cognition model, and discussed the framework of UPI, the single and multi dimension information-aided to the UPI, and techniques of computer-aided conceptual design. These works mainly included the following aspects:1. The process and method describe of UPIThe user's cognition model was described especially its Kansei cognition model from the view of cognition theory. Combined with the analysis of the product concepture design process, the User Perception Information Process (UPIP) was brought forward, whose structure was later described and analyzed. What's more, the methods to acquire, analyze and generally deliver the UPI were studied.2,The single dimension information-aided to the UPIAs the conceptual design was a designing and information exchanging process which involves adjusting design from divergence to convergence, this part of the dissertation introduced the concept of information-aided to the process of product conceptual design. Based on the characteristics of designing information exchanging, the UPI and its transforming mode were analyzed. Encoding design of perceptive object and solution methods with perceptive information were focused then, which take advantage of single dimension user information-aided and the automation conceptual design structure. On-line acquisition and analysis of the UPI were discribed, which is based on a large mount of products design modeling. And research of the conceptual design process was an onther focus which enables users' active participation under the UPI ways.3,The multi-dimension aid to the UPIThis part of the dissertation extended the single dimension UPI to a multi-perception space, and accurately expressed the perception information of a product from many aspects in order to make orientated designing operations. The dimension and axes based on the perception space were defined, and how to construct the multi- perception space was discussed. In order to appraise and predict the perception information correctly, mapping relations of the perception space and product encoding space were established firstly, and then the coordinates of every product encoding design under the perception space were calculated. Finally some works on the reversed solution of design were being done which based on the product perception information from the results of market investigations.4,UPI—CACDSolidworks and CoreDRAW were used as unite developing environment. As the basic algorithm functions VBA tools was introduced to develope the Computer-aided Conceptual Design System based on User Perception Information (UPI—CACD) . The batch construction of product design and products mapping model were implemented. And the product perception imformation positioning and reversed solutions of product encoding were studied too.5,Validation of the handheld terminal products researchAs industrial design has played an important role recent years in handheld terminal products areas, the dissertation takes handheld terminal as the case to validate this research on the methods introduced and the prototype system. User groups were defined according to the VALS. Experts made encoding regulations and definitions of the shape of the product according to the form analysis. And the concuptuer design were be done by UPI—CACD based on users' participant and appraise of the final projects. This part of the research work reveals that the research method of this paper can effectively encourage users' participation to the product conceptual design, so that perception information could be accurately appraised and predicted.
