Today, people pay more attention to safety of image & video as the wide use of multimedia. Media integrality, one of the safety problems, is very important. Self-embedding technology, hiding own information in itself, performs a vital role in evidence preservation and information transmission.This dissertation focuses on the points below:1. A method of self-embedding based on image compression is presented above Fridrich's method. Matrix embedding algorithm is used in data hiding, which reduced data modification of the cover and achieved good results.2. As the large requirements of embedding capacity, data hiding method of LSB extension is presented. Lossless embedding capacity of high bit-planes is borrowed as an supplement in self-embedding. This method, resolved the capacity problem in a way.3. Method of self-embedding in compressed image and video is studied. By the method of image halftoning, image or video pictures are converted to binary images and embedding into image or video itself. When embedding, lossless embedding method is used. This method is suitable for recovering incomplement media transmitted in the unsteady network environments.4. The system of digital image self-embedding is designed and realized, which can be used in evidence preservation and communication transmission and it's easy to operate.This dissertation mainly focused on self-embdding in spatial and non-spatial types of image & video. Further research about anti-steganalysis and enhancing hiding capacity will be continued in the future.
