The field of nonlinear optics is over forty years old, but is still fresh to our minds and currently producing novel research directives and applications. Indeed, with the advent of material engineering at the nano-scale, nonlinear optics is undergoing a new revolution. The study of high optical nonlinearity in nano material for optical communication has generated interest in its potential use as material for all-optical communication devices in future telecommunications.Achieving larger capacity of bandwidth, quick respond of all optical devices are not enough for future photonic communication. Two additional characteristics: the material of trhe devces required high nonlinearity for integration purpose. Second, low power threshold and low loss to reduce the production cost. The advent of application of optical switch, wavelength transform, optical amplifier, fiber laser, ultrashort pulse light source in optical communnication system, their core optical fiber elements needs very high nonlinear effects.This thesis study the nano optical fiber for future optical communications. It is organize into five chapters. First chapter introduce the conventional optical fiber, photonic crystal fiber and nano optical fiber. Chapter two present the nanomaterial for optical fibers. Chapter three nonlinearities of optical fibers. Nano optical fiber for optical communication is discussed in chapter 4. Chapter 5 conclude the thesis.
