The focus of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET) now changes from the mili-tary purpose to the commercial ones. Connecting of a stand-alone MANET to Internet will increase MANET's commercial potential. When MANET connects to Internet, Mobile IP is almost the first choice for mobile management because of its status of IETF standard. Solutions of integration Mobile IP pay more attention to the multihop characteristic of MANET. The characteristics of autoconfiguration and with-out-human-intervene have been neglected. This hampered the fast deployment of MANET with global IP connectivity in many commercial areas. To find a solution for connecting an autoconfigured MANET to the Internet will increase the importance of MANET in the commercial areas.Emergency situations are ideal for MANET since there is some infrastructure damage. This dissertation analysis the problems raised when applies the solutions of integration Mobile IP in emergency situations. The analysis result shows that these kinds of solutions are inappropriate in those situations where fast deployment is critic. This dissertation presents a new architecture which we called MANET&DDNS for global IP connectivity of MANET. The characteristics of movement, multihop, auto-configuration are considered in this architecture. The solutions based on this architec-ture can support mobility management in autoconfigured MANETs. IP address auto-configuration, name autoconfiguration and mobility management are three core mechanisms of the architecture of MANET&DDNS. The solutions about these three mechanisms presented in literatures cannot be directly used in MANET&DDNS ar-chitecture. In this paper we present a new weak DAD algorithm based on on-demand reactive MANET routing protocol for IP address autoconfiguration. We propose a dis-tributed protocol named NetNeighbor to execute a protocol exchange for unique name assignment. And we present a new Mobility Detection algorithm which based on local information used in mobility management. A testbed was implemented based on Linux platform to verify the function of the MANET&DDNS and simulations were performed to verity the performances of the algorithms we have present. This dissertation makes the following specific contributions:1. A new architecture for MANET connecting to the Internet which we called MANET&DDNS. In this architecture, dynamic DNS (Domain Name System)...
