With rapid progress of science and technology, multi-channel real-time 3D rendering systems have been widely applied to various fields such as airspace, military, medical, education, entertainment, architecture and commercial. Because of the large amount of computation and rendering it needs, it requires high performance for hardware. Most of actual applied multi-channel real-time 3D rendering systems are constructed using special hardware which has high cost and makes it difficult for spreading and application. To diminish the costs, it urgently needs to develop a multi-channel real-time 3D rendering system based on the lower price hardware. Against this background, more and more researchers focus on the technology of multi-channel real-time 3D rendering based on PC. It is significant to move it from special workstations to general PC.In this thesis, a platform of distributed multi-PC real-time 3D rendering system is constructed and the key problem of synchronization of multi-PCs is solved. Two major projects which the author participates in are introduced. 360-degree airport tower simulator and national air space situation real-time display system. Real-time 3D rendering technology via distributed multi-PC is applied to these two projects.360-degree airport tower simulator is the VROTS (Virtual Reality Operation Training Simulator) application in civil or military aviation...
