The dramatic development of medical image technology provides abundant information for clinical diagnosis and treatment. The processing and analysis of medical image using computer technique get more and more recognition. Among all investigative branches of medical image, visualization undoubtedly becomes the most important field. From 1990's, visualization of medical image has been a hot topic and application.The research content of medical image visualization includes digital image processing, computer graphics, computer vision, and iatrology, et al. It is a multi-disciplinary subject, and an important application of computer graphics and image processing in biomedicine engineering. The results of visualization are widely used in diagnostic, surgery planning, artificial limb surgery, radiotherapy planning, and teaching in anatomy, and will greatly prompt these applications. In fact, the practical significance is head and shoulders above the iatrology.The existing visualization techniques of medical image can be classified as two kinds: surface rendering and volume rendering. Surface rendering, which is based on traditionally computer graphics, obtains final image by constructing geometrical graphic items in 3D data field using threshold method. On the contrary, volume rendering obtains final image by projecting original 3D data to 2D project plane directly, without constructing geometrical graphic items. Presently, these two techniques are widely used in visualization of medical image, and become hot topics in this research field.Marching Cubes algorithm is one of the most widely used methods of surface rendering. From 1987, when Lorensen presented this algorithm, many works of visualization for scientific computing have been done based on it. There are much research on Marching Cubes algorithm itself, and on perfect it and enhance its efficiency. The study on ambiguity had been along with the whole developing process.
