This paper focus on adaptive hierarchical fuzzy pan-model controllers for nonlinear process plant. It is emphasized that the development of commercial product is the background of theoretical research, and the research objects are boils and spark ignition engines.For nonlinear plants with long dead-time and whose dynamical characteristics change with known variables, the hierarchical fuzzy controller is established to overcome the dead-time, the controller is based on Smith predictor and model reference adaptation. The theoretical results no only can be proofed strictly, but also can be easily used in engineering.For nonlinear plants whose dynamical characteristics change with known variables, the open-loop gain scheduling control has been improved. Adaptive hierarchical fuzzy controller is established on closed-loop fuzzy gain scheduling, also the analytical fuzzy gain scheduling algorithms are obtained. By the stability supervision controller, the system no only has mathematical stability but also has engineering stability.Fuzzy inference chips and the corresponding development environment have been developed, these are the basic products of fuzzy control technology. General fuzzy controllers and intelligent engine electronic control unit have been successfully developed, these are typical add-value products of fuzzy control technology.Hierarchical fuzzy intelligent boil controllers are implemented based on non analytical control strategy and device logic space description. The complete boil control strategy is implemented. Based on the static and dynamic model of SI engines, the kernel control algorithms of SI engines are developed by hierarchical fuzzy gain scheduling methods.Systematical research work has been done for combustion process which has vast application chances and requires special controller. The generality and simplicity of fuzzy controller are emphasized. Based on tremendous experiment, the boil intelligent fuzzy combustion controller and the SI engine EFI system have been put into practical application, which achieve leading level in our country.
