Limited Wireless resource is faced with the difficulty of increasing data. Developing the spatial resource with the smart antenna technology is a primary approach for improving capacity and communication quality not adding frequency band. Though a series of technologies on adaptive array processing have been existed, evaluating the performance of the smart antenna technology is an important and integrated item. Smart antenna technology can be considered efficient only after it is combined with the transmitter and receiver, therefore, the research work on it must consider some typical factors, such as communication type, wireless channel model and spatial-time (ST) processing method. Time division, synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) system is a 3rd Generation communication standard put forward and also independently held by the Chinese Academy of Telecommunication Technology (CATT). Though smart antenna technology is used in this standard, the study on it is immature and imperfect, which brings us often into a passive situation in discussing with other international companies. So, This thesis takes breakthrough on investigating performance of the ST processing technology with smart antennas in the TD-SCDMA system. The main achievements of this thesis are indicated in the following aspects.(1) As a basis a parametric ST channel model is first built,. In this model relationship between space correlation and angle distribution is deduced, and a three-dimension correlation matrix comprised with time, space and frequency parameters is achieved. That is, this model describes the vector channel with combined spatial and time parameters, which overcomes the difficulty of describing the vector channel with frequency parameters. Then, a method is put forward changing the scalar channel model into the vector channel model. The former one includes only time parameters but the latter one includes both spatial and time...
