Integrity constraints play the fundamental role in relational and XML-based data models. The Resource Space Model (RSM) is a data model based on orthogonal classification semantics for efficiently managing various resources in future interconnection environment. This report proposes the theory of integrity constraints for the RSM. Four types of integrity constraints necessary and useful for capturing the complete classification semantics of the RSM are: (1) the entity integrity constraint based on the key system of the RSM; (2) the membership integrity constraint; (3) the referential integrity constraint; and, (4) the user-defined integrity constraint relevant to applications. The proposed theory guarantees the RSM to correctly and efficiently specify and manage resources.
