As computer graphics and computing itself develop very fast, there are many applications of realistic images in daily work, study and personal life. Realistic images are especially very important in Computer Aided Design, Multimedia Education, Reality Simulation System, Scientific Computer Visibility, Animation, Movie Special Effect Simulation and PC games etc. As people become more demanding on quality of images, there is a need to find new algorithms to render realistic images with better image quality. The normal procedure of rendering a realistic image has the following steps: environment construction, change of scenes, visual window cutting, hidden planes hiding and brightness calculation of visible planes. However, before the above steps are taken the basic image information of environment is fundamental and crucial. Only based on fundamental image information of environment, an image can be rendered with the flexibility of changing shapes, resizing and displaying. The fundamental image information here refers to geometric information and topological information. The traditional way of rendering an image is to use a vertex and a polygon to store the information. As the rendering unit is polygon, more polygons will be needed when a smooth surface is rendered. Therefore, the computation time will become quite large especially when rendering a complicated scene or a big mechanical part. The number of polygons goes higher means it will take a very long time to render the image. As a result, many researches have come out with a new rendering algorithm which is based on the points of object surface only and the rendering time will be shortened. This is called point-based rendering and it has become a hot research area.
