With the merits as electromagnetic self-hiding, far distance detection and easy-deploying, the Single Observer Passive Location And Tracking (SOPLAT) has a broad application in military domain. Quite a few of new methods of SOPLAT have been proposed in the last decade, most of these methods add new measure value(s) to the Bearing-Only method base on the particle kinematics. This paper study the challenge technology of SOPLAT method using frequency rate and differential direction of arrival(DDOA), including location and tracking algorithm, frequency rate estimation, DOA and DDOA estimation. The theory of SOPLAT using frequency rate and DDOA is discussed in chapter 2, including developing the system equation , discussing the observability about stable velocity target and stable acceleration target. The method of location about immobile target is also studied. The location and tracking algorithm is studied in chapter 3. By emphasizing the robustness of algorithm, two new location and tracking algorithms is proposed based on extended Kalman filter: robust algorithm based on polar coordinates and robust extend Kalman Filter based on transforming state space. The frequency rate estimation in the SOPLAT is studied in chapter 4. Three algorithms is developed for various kinds of radar signal. These algorithms are Multi-stages frequency estimation, minimum error frequency estimation, discrete polynomial phase transform frequency rate estimation.Based on the phase interferometer array, the DOA and DDOA estimation method is studied in chapter 5. The Stagger distance method, Multi-pare method, and Second-order difference algorithms are proposed, they are also validated by simulation.By the studying of the challenge technology of SOPLAT , chapter 6 introduce the in-room experiment and out-room experiment. In the in-room experiment, the sampled signal of radar intermediate frequency is processed by frequency (rate) estimation algorithms, with fine result. In the out-room experiment, by using the location and tracking algorithms and frequency (rate) estimation algorithms, the target is located and tracked by SOPLAT system with fine result.
