FMCW microwave collision avoidance Radar is key technology in ITS (Intelligent Transform System). There is a boom going on in microwave and millimeter wave applications of products in the field of autonomous intelligent cruise control (ACC) and collision warning (CW)/collisior reduction (CR) radar systems for in-vehicle applications. Use of these technologies provides greater public safety and convenience for lower cost than simply building more roads. In this papers, we have a general research in system structure, DSP arithmetic and component manufacture to develop a high resolution, real time practical FMC W microwave collision avoidance Radar.First of all, System standard of the FMCW Radar must be established. In Chapter two, the principle to measure distance v/as introduced. The frequency in which the radar works was set down to 24GHz, And other performances of the whole system was established. At last, three different system structures were compared to get the most suitable one for our application. In chapter three, the function of each component was discussed in detail. The whole system was simulated to determine parameters of each component according to practical request and current components manufacture lever. The traditional FMCW (frequency modulation continuous wave) radar has its own limitation in multitarget detection. In chapter four a novel method by using changing cycle FMCW radar is presented. Computer simulation proves that the analysis is correct and the method is practical. Considering the different frequency resolution rate of velocity in different periods, a special function is given to decide the error range of one target. Then the time frequency spectrum character of interference signal of a practical millimeter LFMCW radar was studied. According to its periodicity, a method is presented to reduce interference signal from received signal in time frequency united field. And that method is p wen to be practical and efficiency by a real Ll MCW radar system.GaAs Schottky diodes show the advantages of low 1/f noise combined with low cost. We use these diodes in hybrid flip-clip configuration to build a novel balanced mixer at 24 GHz for automotive applications. The realized mixer shows promising features such as low as10 dB conversion loss, LO-to-RF isolation betterthan 35 dB.In chapter six, a MMIC low noise amplifier using HEMT process is presented. The performance of scaled HEMT component with different DC bias is analyzed. Then the schematic diagram and layout of this LNA is given in the papers. In chapter seven, a power amplifier using power combination technology is presented. The power amplifier is composed of 2 parallel connecting MMIC power amplifiers. And MMCM (microwave muti-chip module technology) process is used and the MMIC PA is affixed on a metal substrate to dispel heat. At last, a series experiments were carried through to analyze difference between simulation and measurement result.
