This dissertation consists of five chapters.Established on the basis of possessing ample literature, Chapter1 and Chapter2 deal with a textual research on editions of Chu hsi's Shih Ji-chuan in past dynasties, especially the editions printed in Song and Yuan Dynasties. A comparative study on the phonetic notation in all the different editions of Shih Ji-chuan shows an unvarnished look of the phonetic notation done by Chu hsi and its grounds. Therefore, the photocopy (originally block-printed in Song dynasty) collected in Sibucongkan Part 3 can be considered as the most valuable one in academy among all the editions handed down from ancient times. With the loss of Vol12 to Vol17, this edition is not a complete one yet. It is necessary for us to refer to another edition (a collection in the National Library, originally block-printed in Song dynasty and recopied in Ming dynasty). The phonetic notation in the 8-volume edition of Shih Ji-chuan have been tampered by later generations, therefore, it is not the original look. The phonetic notation in the 20-volume edition is mainly grounded on Jingdianshiwen by Lu Deming and Maoshibuyin by Wu Yu.Chapter 3 and chapter 4 give an overall research on Chu hsi's theory about the study on the Book of Songs through idiographic working over the following four aspects: the course of Chu hsi's discarding the Preface of the Book of Songs, the principles and ways of explaining Shi, study on 'Er -Nan' ,study on 'promiscuous poems' and study on ' Liu- Yi' . Chu hsi's study on the Book of Songs is an evolutive one. This development incarnates not bnly the surpassing the research harvest of the scholars, who lived in the past and the contemporary, but also the attitude towards the production of his own study on the Book of Songs. He reflects upon the study of the Book of Songs with his own criticism continuously, in order to improve and develop the research. It is by the principle of vertical skim and horizontal scrutiny that he stands in front of his time. Therefore, Chu hsi' turns out to be a perfect and knowledgeable scholar among those ones who studied the Book of Songs in Song Dynasty.Chapter 5 extracts and collects the records of Shih Ji-chuan from the literature of the past dynasties according to chronicle.
