Zheng Zhenduo is a famous editor in the history of Chinese modern literature. He dedicated his whole life to editing and publishing and obtained great achievement in both fields. Meanwhile, he is also a famous writer and thinker with profound knowledge. His keen perceive on literary and outstanding theory produced deep influence on his editorial work. From the <Novel Monthly>in1920s to the<World Library>in1930s, the publications that he edited showed his endeavor to introduce foreign literature and arrange Chinese literature systematically, from which he was hoping that a unique way to develop Chinese literature would be found.As the chief editor, Zheng Zhenduo compiled the<World Library>in1935which is an enormous collection of Chinese and foreign classics and adds up to12volumes. It does not only reflects Zheng Zhenduo’s main editorial views but also carrying his thought on what the new writers should do when they tried to write and the trend of the new literary. In this paper, we studied the scope, compile rules and the features of the works from the Zheng Zhenduo’s world-literature point of view, with the purpose to conclude his different editing perspectives on Chinese literature and foreign literature. And then we can inquiry the significance that the<World Library>has contributed to Chinese new literature.
