CAD/CAM is an important component of the advanced manufacturing technology. NC programming is one of the courses that bring perfect economic benefits in CAD/CAM. On the background of engineering application, the key technologies of NC machining programming is studied in depth based on solid models with the goal of high machining quality and efficiency. At the same time, in combination of Web technology with the automatic NC programming system, the key technologies of the Web-based NC programming system is researched. The principal research achievements are as follows:(6) The infrastructure and development mechanisms of ACIS geometry engine are studied. The key technological issues dealing with the support of ACIS for the development of NC programming system are solved, which provides the sound basis for the development of MC machining programming system based on solid models.(7) Two fashions of rough machining based on solid models are researched: profile rough machining, iso-height plane rough machining. On basis of the previous researches, a new tool-path generation algorithm for three-axis NC rough machining based on solid models is presented. With this algorithm, the complicated calculation procedures such as profile loop offset, self-intersection and Boolean operation are avoided. Furthermore, the tool-path generation algorithm of rough machining on the workpiece with open pockets is put forward.(8) Two finish machining methods based on solid models are studied: planar-section method and projection method. With projection method a finish-machining algorithm based on triangle meshes of solid surfaces is implemented. The topological structures of the triangle patches are designed. The optimization issues of triangle-patch searching are solved. And the algorithm with tool-path generation and interference prevention is implemented. The implemented function has the advantage of high running speed compared with that of MasterCAM and other similar software.(9) A tool-path generation algorithm is researched and implemented based on massive measuring points. The tool-path interference detection and exclusion algorithm is designed. For the first time, the NC machining function based on massive dispersed data points is implemented in CAD/CAM systems.(10) The key development technologies of Web-based CAM systems are researched, which include network technology closely relating with Web application, Java development technology, etc. At last, a Web-based CAM prototype system is designed and preliminarily implemented.
