With the Wide application of Computer in manufacturing, the NC machining Auto programming, which is an important component of Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), has been the key technology to improve the productivity and create more economic benefits in modern manufacturing.From the view of supporting the progject of JiangSu scientific technology,ACIS,a famous geometric modeling engine is introduced as well as its topological structure. IGES and STEP standard format and the SAT format which is used in ACIS has been studied. According to the characters of different parts and the characters of different machine tools, a method of grinding for non-circular surface is researched, a new strategy and algorithm of non-circluar surface NC griding which based on ACIS is studied. A way of non-circluar surface internal grinding is realized as well as the way of non-circluar surface external grinding. According to the different Characters of parts and grinding types, the respective tool paths are designed. And by a machine configure file, the General postposition process is dealed with.At last, from the view of software engineering, the structure of this system is introduced.According to the achievements, NC automatic Programming for Noncircular Surface Gringding based on ACIS is successfully developed.The result of application shows that it is satisfying.
