Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP) is one of the central technique of advanced manufacturing technique, as well as the basic technique of Computer Integrated Manufacturing System(CIMS) Concurrent Engineering(CE) Agile Manufacture (AM) and Intelligent Manufacture (IM). Because there is a lack of full theory and technical system that ensure CAPP system adapting to distributed and heterogeneous dynamic application environment, this paper deals with the essential issues affecting development of CAPP. From the point of view of software, this paper made deep research on the basic theory and related application technique of CAPP software architecture that based on domain analysis. Through research and practice, the RRS (reconfigurable~ reusable and scalable) properties of CAPP software system can be improved greatly, which make CAPP software become a more adaptable and flexible agile system. This paper include the main research and achievements as follows: 1. Research of CAPP development and Methodology of software architecture based on domain analysis. Through analysis of the CAPP researching characters in different period and the essential issues affecting CAPP development, this paper presents a new point for the first time to solve the problem of CAPP research and development, which is to implement research of CAPP software architecture based on domain analysis. Then this paper presents methodology of software architecture based on domain analysis. It is the theoretical basis of research on domain analysis and software architecture in different field, and is gather of a whole set of theory and method that make research on domain analysis and software architecture and their correlation. This methodology mainly include: (1) On the basis of analyzing former related concept, the definition of domain analysis and software architecture are presented, in which the status of model is stressed; (2) The theory and method of building domain analysis model and software architecture model are proposed, the composing and developing process of each model are discussed in detail; (3) The style and describing language of software architecture are analyzed; (4) The relation between the domain model and the software architecture model is studied, in which the continuity and dependent are stressed.2. Th. above researcb has reveal.d essence of CAPP dynamicapplication environment and established academic foundation fOr solving the probl.msthat affecting CAPP development; (2) Analysis and modeling of a series of related andsimilar CAPP systems. The multi-view models of CAPP domain system are built, inwhich the composing elements and their relation are analyzed. This is the preconditionfOr identifying. picking-up. organizing reusable component and producing generalsoftware architecture in CAPP domain; (3) Analysis and modeling of CAPP domainrequirements; (4) Research on each model's effects to RRS properties of C^PP systemand the models' interrelation, it shows that CAPP domain requirements model is theconnection of domain application environment model and domain system model.3.
