According to the principle of the microstrip antenna array, this thesis studied the feeding methods, especially the patch element antenna feeding based on the Transmission Line Model. The Dual-Frequency and Dual-Polarization Microstrip Antenna for Space-borne SAR Application is presented. The antenna uses a single aperture , and folded configuration with aired plastic film. The patch antenna has low substrate dielectric constant and wide bandwidth. The cross-polarization isolation and impedance matching are discussed. The characteristics of the Space-borne SARs using this light configuration antenna are analyzed.This thesis provides a new flexible method of beam shaping based on superposition principle and the scanning principle of phased array antenna, and designed a 145cm X 48cm L band array composed of microstrip patch elements. In the azimuth direction, the pattern of this array has 23 half-power beam width. In this thesis, the wide beam antenna array is used as the antenna of an airborne SAR with ultrahigh azimuth resolution. The parameters of the antenna and the SAR system are calculated and are compared between the strip-mapping SAR and the Spotlight SAR.Antenna measurements are studied, and the aired patch antenna has been measured.
