The New Culture Movement was marked with creative thoughts and talented masters, when leading intellectuals explored the best way to transform Chinese society by means of assembly of groups and publication of newspapers which is well known as a platform of public opinion for intellectuals to participating in political expression. The Renaissance is a very influential magazine at that time. The monthly periodical The Renaissance (1919-1922) published three volumes and two issues during the period from Jan 1st,1919 to 1922 when publication was stopped. It was founded by Fu Sinian and Luo Jialun. Its copywriters includes Luo Jialun, Fu Sinian, Kang Baiqing, Gu Jiegang, etc., in addition to that a number of New Culture Movement icons, Chen Duxiu, Cai Yuanpei, Hu Shi, Li Dazhao, Lu Xun and Jiang Menglin for instance, submitted their articles to the magazine. The Renaissance followed the path of the New Youth in spreading the spirits of science and democracy and advocating the ideas of studying the academic issues for a new China. The magazine also dedicated itself to a variety of issues from literature revolution centered in advocating replacing written Chinese with the modern style, to hot social problems at that time such as woman liberation, labor issue and education reform. A short period of time though it lasted, the Renaissance, as an ignorable role in New Culture Movement, provides us with important material when we set out to explore the spiritual experience of intellectuals in that period. The Renaissance is the objective of study in this article. Abiding by the principle of historical materialism, I conducted a thorough study by means of text comprehension on the social transformation thought of the Renaissance from multiple points of view according to the tracks of the evolvement of history as well as key figures'thoughts. In Charter one reveals the historical context and intention of publication of the Renaissance in the period of New Culture Movement by exploring its background. In charter two, I analyzed the ideas of democracy and science in the magazine which was also kind of complement and support for the New Culture Movement. In Charter three and Charter four, I revealed the socialism view and experimentalism view and also explored the Renaissance's knowledge and choice about the Chinese social revolution. In Charter five, I analyzed the magazine on its social transformation activities and on its arguments and research on modern Chinese society transformation issues such as literature revolution, woman liberation, labor issues and education. In the last charter, I concluded and argued for its influence and historical role on social transformation, combined with public reactions and comments on the Renaissance. Meanwhile, I tried to make an objective analysis and evaluation on limitations of the Renaissance. All in all, the Renaissance enthusiastically advocated new culture and thoughts, explored the future of China as well as the way to save the people and create a new China as a leading new culture publication. This magazine, some articles in which regarded as faulty by the present standard though, played without doubt an enlightened role at that time.
