The Culture of Harmony is a cultural system that values harmony and tries to initiate, to study, to expound, and to transfer harmony in the society. Its core value is to uphold the ideology of harmony, to embody the spirit of harmony, and to propose the vision of harmony. The main contents of the Culture of Harmony, such as truth, value, development, beauty, ethic, and vision are built upon the basis of harmony. Educating people with the Culture of Harmony is the key to build a harmonious society.This thesis tries to study various techniques of the Culture of Harmony from the viewpoint of ethnology, anthropology, and sociology. These three disciplines are very closely related together in terms of object and tool. All these disciplines focus on human beings as their objects, and all try to study from a holistic perspective. The solution of conflict is the urgent need of our society. This thesis attempts to probe Sino-Western resources and the achievements of international institutes and explore the development of the culture of harmony in history, and thus search the key blunders to the development of harmonious society and give some solutions and advices. I studied deeply into the problem of interpersonal conflict and its solution in this thesis. I investigated the definition of conflict, and studied the various types of conflicts and their reasons, and searched some techniques to diminish conflicts. I tried to contribute to the build up of harmonious society through the development of a practical system of improving inter-personal relations.This thesis is the first attempt to study the Culture of Harmony from the perspective of ethnology. I wanted to find a practical model for the harmonious society. We already saw many attempts to study inter-personal conflicts from the perspective of sociology. I tried from a different perspective and on the much broader basis of international research. I tried to analyze different models of society building from the view of different cultural and belief systems. The purpose of this thesis is to stimulate the sense of harmony deep in everyone's heart, and to develop the Culture of Harmony in the area of ideology and practical model. I hope that this thesis may contribute to the building of the harmonious society in present China.
