Research On The Development Of Regional Leisure Sports Industry

The leisure age is an inexorable step of social development according to its law. The arrival of leisure age will provide opportunities for the development of leisure sports industry. Leisure sport, as a lifestyle, is bound to be a fashion of times. The study on regional leisure sports industry from the perspective of region is of far-reaching practical and historical significance to the realization of an all-round well-off society and construction of a socialist harmonious society.According to the development law unique to the sports industry, the thesis probes into relevant theories on the sustainable development of regional leisure sports industry from perspectives of sociology, economics and the other subjects. Aimed at establishing theories on regional leisure sports industry development and seeking for a sustainable development of leisure sports in the east of China, based on the correct understanding of the status quo of the development of"interior and exterior environments"of leisure sports in the east of China and with the scientific view of development as the guidance, the thesis, adopting the prescription methodology and empirical research, quantity and quality analysis, proposes a theoretical assumption on the development strategy of leisure sports industry in the east of China for the reference of the sustainable development of sports industry and social economy in the east of China and the other regions at large. The major points and original ideas are:Firstly, the thesis defines regional leisure sports industry as the superordinate concept over concepts of regional leisure sports industry with sports as the main body and related industry of regional leisure sports. The respective definitions are as followed:Regional leisure sports industry refers to a group or system of enterprises engaged in economic activities of tapping potential values of regional leisure sports according to the comparative advantage principle.The regional leisure sports industry with sports as the main body refers to a group or system of enterprises engaged in economic activities of tapping values of regional characteristic leisure sports service (or labor service).Related industry of regional leisure sports refers to a group or system of enterprises engaged in economic activities of providing factors of production to the regional leisure sports activities or service to the society via the self-value of regional leisure sports.Secondly, the social indicator system of the development of regional leisure sports industry is a series of interrelated and mutually-conditioned indicators which are set up to reflect the development of social economic environment parallel to the development of leisure sports in different regions of China. The set of indicators is composed of indicators of social structure, economic benefit, quality of population, living standard, infrastructure and ecological environment.Thirdly, the structures of regional leisure sports industry basically include structures of inter-industry social reproduction, supply-and-demand structure, investment, employment, technology, regional allocation and production. The structure of regional leisure sports industry is mainly influenced by: national economic development, technology alteration, regional policies, factors of supply and demand and international trade etc.Fourthly, sports resources enjoy features of being diversified, variable, globalized and are subject to regional, temporal and cultural differences. Factors influencing the layout of regional leisure sports industry are natural conditions, natural resources, social factors, economic factors and technology factors, etc.Fifthly, the leisure sports industry development in the eastern part of China has taken up an initial scale, but is unbalanced. The development of leisure sports industry with sports as the main body remains at a relatively low level compared to that of the related industries, among which the sports fitness and entertainment industry, competitive performance industry and agency service are merely at the fledging stage.Sixth, the thesis comprehensively analyzes the exterior social and economic environment of the east of China from 2000 to 2004. The result indicates that the scores of Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Zhejiang, Guangdong, and Jiangsu are above the average level (134.12), ranking the first to the sixth respectively, while the scores of other regions are below the average, with Hainan having the lowest score of 64.66.Seventh, based on the perspective of supply-and-demand relation in the leisure sports industry chain, the thesis conducts an all-round analysis on the"exterior and interior environments"of the development of leisure sports industry in the east of China and holds that competitive performance industry and sports fitness and entertainment industry should be the leading industries in three major regions in China. The suggestion, hence, is the development of leisure sports industry in the three major economic circles in the east of China should take the form of"one nucleus plus multi-poles", namely, the Bohai-rim economic circle fully covered with Beijing as the nucleus and Tianjin and Shenyang as two growth poles, the Changjiang Delta economic circle with Shanghai nucleus and Suzhou and Hangzhou two growth poles, and Guangdong, Fujian and Hainan with Guangzhou nucleus and Shenzhen and Zhuhai two growth poles and the joint development of leisure sports industry in the east of China as a whole can thus be achieved.Eighth, the thesis analyzes and compares the"interior and exterior environments"of the development of leisure sports industry in different cities in the economic circle of Pearl River Delta and holds the development of leisure sports industry in this region should take competitive performance industry and sports fitness and entertainment industry as the leading industries and adopt the pattern of"one nucleus plus multi-poles"with Shenzhen and Zhuhai as poles to cover the whole economic circle. And different cities should cultivate characteristic brand items of leisure sports industry.
