As a complex social problem, academic misconduct has been existing for a long time in the academic community. There are a lot of relationships within the academic community, including individual-individual relationship, individual-society relationship, individual-science relationship and science-society relationship. Actually, academic misconduct lies in the interaction of all these relationships. With the collegialization of scientific research and the institutionalization of academics, the research function of the university is becoming more and more protruding, and the universities also become a very important part of the academic community. How can these relationships in the university academic activities be regulated? What kind of rules should be abided by in order to regulate these relationships? They are not only a matter of scientific ethics, but also a very important problem in management science. This paper is intended to focus on the contradiction between academic misconduct and university academic management, so as to penetrate the phenomena of academic misconduct, then find out the true source and true nature of it, them try to put forward some methods to rectify the problem of academic misconduct.Academic misconduct has been an old but haunting topic in China and even throughout the world. It has been quite practical and confusing in the higher education management, and it also seems to be unavoidable in the present academic management. So the research into this topic will be very significant both theoretically and practically. The first question to be answered in the research is "what is academic misconduct?" The paper answers this question from three aspects: the source of academic misconduct, the nature of academic misconduct and the control of academic misconduct. While researching into these above-mentioned issues, it is necessary to adhere to the principle of unifying history with logic so that a conclusion which is both rule-governed and purpose-oriented can be reached. As to the research of academic misconduct, people across the world usually narrow the research scope by concentrating on the misconduct in scientific research. But there do exist some misunderstandings on the concepts. Academic misconduct covers research misconduct, but they are different, because research misconduct is only part of academic misconduct, and it only reflects the nonstandard individual-science interaction, while the nonstandard individual-individual, individual-society and science-society interactions are not included in this kind. In order to reveal the nonstandard interaction between these relationships, the concept "academic misconduct" is thus introduced. Academic management contains the management of both academic affairs and academic activities. It is a process of coordinating and regulating the limited academic resources (human resources, financial resources and material resources) and the academic behaviors within the university so as to efficiently obtain the university's academic goal; of course, this process just takes place within a specific scope of time and space, and it should comply with the rule of academic development and the academic goal of the university. Academic misconduct is a very important problem to be dealt with in the academic management. How should the limited academic resources be allocated? What can be relied on in the individual-society and science-society interactions? In other words, is it a kind of equivalent exchange when the scholars obtain the academic resources from the society? What can be relied on to keep the equity and justice in the competition for academic resources? It should be noted that there is no "invisible hand" to modulate the academi...
