Generally speaking, education without value-orientated system is one without soul; this applies to entrepreneurship education in particular. Entrepreneurship education can be called complete only when it unites the knowledge system, the method system and the value system. But nowadays the prevailing situation is putting more emphasis on the knowledge system and the method system of entrepreneurship education, and pay little attention to, or even simply ignore the construction of its value-oriented system. This dissertation tries to construct a value system of entrepreneurship education; it highlights this problem and tries to delve into it.The study of the values of university entrepreneurship education is a systematic investigation of various issues of entrepreneurship education from an axiological perspective. It argues that entrepreneurship education needs to be supported and enhanced by values, and tries to unfold the values of entrepreneurship education and the ways of realizing them; also it attempts a multi-dimensional clarification of the essence, the connotation, and the meaning of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial education.Chapter 1 The Foundation of the Values of Entrepreneurship EducationOn the basis of an analysis of the connotations and the denotations of concepts such as value, the value of education, man's value, entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurship education, etc., this chapter examines entrepreneurship education at home and abroad, determines its orientation and propounds the concept of the value scope of entrepreneurship education which means that the values of entrepreneurship education have their bounds. They are determined by the following three factors:first, whether the subject of entrepreneurship education can cultivate the spirit and the ability of the educated; second, whether the spirit and the ability of entrepreneur can be taught; third, whether the educated can take in and internalize what is taught and turn it into his personality and conscious action. This is the very foundation of the study of the values of entrepreneurship education.Chapter 2 The Implications of the Values of the Entrepreneurship EducationGuided by the people-oriented principle, the author holds that the goal of entrepreneurship education is to help people achieve a good life and to promote their free and all-round development. This chapter outlines the framework of the study of the values of entrepreneurship education, and proposes to focus on the following three levels:the value ideal, the value objective and the value existence. The value ideal of entrepreneurship education embodies its pursuit of values in the ultimate sense. It points to something ideal, singular and sublime, and regulates the fulfillment of people's potentialities and leads them to achieve a free and well-rounded development. The value objective of entrepreneurship education is to make its value ideal more concrete and real. It leads people to achieve virtue, wealth, and a happy life, and finally, self-realization. The value existence of entrepreneurship education signifies the transformation of potentiality into actuality in its pursuit of values. It is dependent on entrepreneurs' participation in various social activities. The values of entrepreneurship education are realized in practices which are conducive to the building of an innovative nation, the social-economic development, the intellectual and cultural progress, and the training of new entrepreneurs, etc.Chapter 3 The System of the Values of Entrepreneurship EducationThe emphasis of this chapter is the value system of entrepreneurship education, its structure and basic content. It takes the study of the value system of entrepreneurship education as the theoretical basis for setting the teaching aims and the criteria of evaluation for entrepreneurship education. It also tries to establish the values of entrepreneurship education, to improve its teaching experience, and to construct a new theoretical system of teaching. It is required that entrepreneurship education operate in a structural process to realize the structural objectives, and to meet the structural needs of the society and the students. According to its definition and practical characteristics, the main content of entrepreneurship education centers on the theoretical knowledge, the abilities, the mental qualities, and the methods relevant to entrepreneurship. Here knowledge education is the basis, ability education the core, character education the warrant, and the method education the means. To fully realize the values of entrepreneurship education, we must follow the principle of structuralization, the principle of feature analysis, the principle of complexity, the principle of coordination, the principle of thorough thinking, and the principle of the unity of process value and goal value.Chapter 4 The Realization of the Values of Entrepreneurship EducationInspired by the experiences of the universities at home and abroad and hundreds cases of college student entrepreneurs, this chapter discusses the principles and the routes of realizing the values of entrepreneurship education. As far as value creation of entrepreneurship education is concerned, we sum up five principles, e.g, the principle of well-rounded development, the principle of innovating the idea of a university, the principle of striving for societal support, the principle of respecting the autonomy of students, and the principle of combining with other aspects of education. These principles are not isolated; they are integral and mutually conditional. Most universities take one of the principles as primary and others as auxiliary. This paper collects hundreds cases of college student entrepreneurs and pays more attention to those who started their enterprises at university or soon after their graduation. The fact that they became entrepreneurs is influenced by the entrepreneurship education they received in university can hardly be ignored. |
