| In this dissertation,the author studies a work which was a linestone in the compostinonal history of western music in 20th century.The author tries to research this compostion in a way of cultural background/context and musical phenomenon/subject in order to enhance the understanding of culture of music.The formation of Schoenberg's style of free atonal composing was not only a question of evolvement of music language,but also,to an extent,a reflection to social situation of Germany-Austria in the Fin du siecle of 19/20th century.In romantic music genres,Lied both contains the elements of poem and music,thus,this work provides abundant content for cultural study of music as a social-ideological interpretation.The intergral research to a music work in both technique and culture is precondition and foundation of culural understanding to certain compostion,by this conception,my dissertation uses the relationship of text and musical structure as a keypoint.According to the reaserch aim and the keypoints above,the first four chapters of my dissertation focus on the work from the genre,individual situation of composer,total structure of text-music and litertural meaning of text.In analyzing of lieds,I designed a set of analyzing procedures and analysed the all 15 lieds systemiclly.In conclusion,author summarizes poem,the relation of music and text and structural features of works from three levels of syntax,syllable and meaning.Furthermore,author will explain the inter-relationship of the poem-music structure and schoenberg's two important compositional techniques in this period by relating the two elements lacked:Zusammenhang and Gliederung.From the understanding and interpretation,we can conclude that this work expresses the special warmth,absent,blankness and desperation of composer and the intellectuals of his generation before the rigorous social reality in Fin du siecle,by this meaning,the reason and aim of art creating is no longer the "beauty" of traditional meaning,nor innovation of technique,but expressing the "inner exciting feeling" of composer. |
