Jian-yang of Fu-jian province was the outstanding centre of Chinese block Printing from Song Dynasty to Ming Dynasty . The books which printed in Jian-jiang were a great variety and an alarming number. This dissertation studies on the fictions which printed in Jian-yang ,based on the collection about the fictions which printed in Jian-yang in Song, Yuan, Ming and early Qing Dynasty,and compared with the fictions printed in Nanjing, Hangzhou, Suzhou at the same time,to reveal the history and the characteristics of the fictions which printed in Jianyang.This dissertation includes two parts. The first part is the overall study on the fictions which printed in Jianyang. The second part is the exhaustive catalogues of the fictions which printed in Jianyang.The first chapter is the introductory remarks. Introduces the history of Jianyang, and the history of the block Printing in Jianyang,and the records about the fictions which printed in Jianyang,and the evaluations before the twentieth century,and the researches in the study of the publication and the ancient fictions since the twentieth century.The second chapter concerns on the fictions which printed in Jianyang in Song and Yuan dynasty . Firstly, introduce that hand-writing was the main way to make the fictions book which writing in classical Chinese. With the rise of the printing industry and the demand for the dissemination of fictions large-scale, the fiction books writing in classical Chinese became to be printed.According to the catalogues and the documents, i found more than 100 editions of the fictions which writing in classical Chinese printed during the Song dynasty and yuan dynasty. Then introduce Jianyang the characters of the printed undertakings during the Song and Yuan and list 10 fictions which printed in Jian-yang. The fiction is not a important category of the Jian-yang printing.Around the Jian-yang printing, analysis the printers of the fictions, and reveals the official printing played an important advocacy role, the private home printing was an important branch, Hangzhou and Jianyang have more fictions printed by a printing workshop, and the quality of the book which printed in Hangzhou was the better.The third chapter concerns on the fictions which printed in Jianyang after Ming Dynasty.Firstly,introduces the development of the printing during Ming Dynasty,and points out that the climax of the printing was after Jiajing dynasty, so the discuss was conducted in two phases.Before Jiajing Dynasty ,the fiction writing in the classical Chinese is still the main category ,there were very few too. After the Jiajing Dynasty , in sharp contrast to,the fiction writing in the classical Chinese, the popular fictions printed in full swing, very prosperous. There were many editions of the most famous fictions :" Romance of Three Kingdoms " and " Outlaws of the Marsh " and " Journey to the West" ,the vast majority of the three fictions editions were printed in Jianyang, a total number of of the Jian-yang "Three Kingdoms" is 24; a total number of of the Jian-yang "Water Margin" is 8; a total number of of the Jian-yang "Journey to the West" is 4.Not only that, Jianyang of the Ming Dynasty has published a large number of Historical fictions, Detective novels, the fiction about the gods and ghosts, and help to bring about the formation of these fiction schools.The forth chapter analyses the writing of the popular fictions which printed by Jian-yang printing shops. First of all, an analysis of the development and changes of 24 Jian-yang "the three countries" , followed by analysis of the shorten edtions of "Water Margin" and "West" . Then , analyses of the writing of the historical fictions,the detective novels, the fiction about the gods and ghosts,and reveals the shortcoming. The end of Wanli Dynasty, Suzhou and other places were along with the rise of Printing, the introduction of the novel genre: romantic fictions, the fictions of current affairs,but Jianyang gradually declined to the early Qing Dynasty, printed in Jianyang only 6 fictions.The fifth chapter concerns on the important feature of the fictions which printedin Jianyang——to be excellent in both illustrations and literarycompositions.Secondly, the dissertation reveals the reasons of the decline in two leves.
