| Language is a many-level sign system,level-character is one of the fundamental attributes of linguisitic signs. Level-character research is a very important part of theory of linguisitic signs. Chomsky N. said that the concept of language levels is a central concept in language theory. Soviet scholar Slusareva N. A. remarked too,"the levels of language system, seemingly, are a most important problem in contemporary linguistics".Researching the problem of level-character of signs, on the basis of language units'characters, functions and their correlations, we can divide sign system into different subsystems, which is considered as the sign levels. Dividing levels depends not only on ontological characteristics, but also on researching approaches. Basing on theories of linguosemiotics , we did a systematic research on level-character, meanwhile, on statistic representation and dynamic generation of sentence meaning. The given research has very great theoretical values, because language system can be profoundly interpreted only in contemporary linguistic stratum theories.As a main attribute of linguisitic signs, level-character is correlated with the function of language system; it is also a projection and reflection of human cognitive levels. Basing on ontological structures, we can divide linguisitic signs into two aspects: visible level and abstract level. The former is composed of allophone, morph, word form and utterance; the latter is composed of phoneme, morpheme, word and sentence. The sign meanings can also be divided into three levels: deep perceptive meaning, cognitive meaning and surface situational meaning. On the basis of meaning level theory, sentence meaning can be divided into deep sign meaning (DSM), middle sign meaning(MSM)and surface sign meaning (SSM). The former refers to predicative meaning, the latter includes scheme meaning, structural meaning,propositional meaning and denotative meaning; the last includes communicational-pragmatic meaning. So, the generation of sentence meaning, i.e. the semiosis of sentence meaning can be divided into presemiosis, initial semiosis and secondary semiosis, which includes 3 operation modules: operation system, control system and knowledge system.Researching the level-character of language sign, especially sentence meanings from the point of linguosemiotics has great theoretical values and practical importance, and achievements in this sphere can be useful to human-machine dialogue. Our thesis is only the first step in the direction and needs further exploring in future studies. |
