A Study On The Zashi Of The Sung Dynasty

This essay is a special study about Zashi of Song dynasty from a philological angle. The essay mainly includes the following three aspects:Part 1. Zashi in the catalogue of Imperial Collection of Four. The history section of the catalogue consists of 15class-two subdivisions, and 27 class-three subdivisions. Among them, books of Zashi are totally 273 of 22 volumes, and books comprising catalogues are 757 of 179 volumes, most of them are publications in Song, Ming and Qing Dynasty. It's really a special feature we need to focus on. In this essay, the author firstly discusses the relationship between Zash and other categories in the catalogue of Imperial Collection of Four in order to explore the standard of classification of Zashi. Then the author discuss the difference of Zashi and other books containing Zashi's contents in order to explore the standard and basis of classification of the catalogue of Imperial Collection of Four.Part 2. Evolution of the Zashi classification in taxonomic books. This part is mainly about the origin of Zashi and the evolution of the Zashi's connotation in the category through dynasties. Through the categorization of books of classification from History of Sui Dynasty—Classics《隋书·经籍志》, the author explores the causes and significance of the Zashi's establishment as a category under the class of history from the angle of catalog study, and also discuss evolution of the Zashi classification principles from History of Sui Dynasty through the categorization of Zashi since Song Dynasty.The third part is about the texture research of Zashi in Song Dynasty from the eye of philology. It's about the texture research of over ten Zashi in the catalogue of Imperial Collection of Four. The aim is to explore the reliability and value of these Zashi, and also ensure the gain and loss in classification of Zashi in Imperial Collection of Four. The author also tends to disclose the real value of these publications for the further research of the scholars.The conclusion is that the classification of Zshi originated from History of Sui Dynasty, that the concept Zashi in different periods of time has different interpretation. Being a branch of section of history, Zashi is not a fixed style but a consequence of the classification during the study of catalogue and also a reflection of classification from a perspective of the catalogue study. In the classification of the history section in the Imperial Collection of Four, more strict embodying standards are adopted, and also in the catalogue of Zashi, many books that didn't accord with the style of historic books are discarded, which made Zashi section is involved with section of novelists and Zajia. In this paper, the author founds that there are the double standards for the classification of Zashi (political and academic standards). Academic standards usually appeared in the abstract, and political standards always evade. Through the puilological study of Zashi in Song dynasty, the paper tends to disclose the reason why many important books just have contents without account is the political consideration of puttihg an end to the national conflicts and consolidating minority's reigning. And the paper also discloses the fact that the catalogue of Imperial Collection of Four also collected the fake books.
