He had been the officer of Ku Lun , Tibet, and general of Yi Li .He also held the government of Shan Gan, Hu Guang, Liang Jiang, Liang Guang, and Zhi Li. For he spent most of his life in remote areas, he accumulated rich experience about administration of remote areas, and became famous as an officer who was good at frontier governing in the Qing dynasty. He devoted himself to exploiting and constructing remote areas. Meanwhile, Sung Yun also concerned about culture building of remote areas. He organized some scholars to compile Qin Ding Xin Jiang Shi Lue ,and Sung Yun himself also wrote many books, which have high historical values until now.
