The Zhuangzi Prose Commentaries Study

Since Guo Xiang commented on the essays of Zhuangzi, his authentic metaphysics way of unscrambling was generally accepted by Chinese scholars who were interested in Quyi and Jingjie. Then, Guo Xiang's way of unscramble found a key for Chinese scholars to enter Zhuang Zhou's spirit world. So the absolute freedom inwardly, the aloof and proud spirit, and the unfettered behavior, became the spiritual goal for Chinese scholars to pursue all their life. Synchronously, as the most brilliant essay of that time, Zhuangzi's literary particularities superabundantly give place to metaphysics, so that some of the literary particularities have not received enough recognition and revelation. Therefore, this paper starts with the essay comments that are relatively weak in the area of the study on Zhuangzi, chooses six representative works which study on Zhuangzi as my research objects, and from the angle of traditional criticism try to discuss the value of criticism on the article study about the study on Zhuangzi.The literary comments on Zhuangzi continue in all ages, on the one hand it is associated with Chinese traditional criticism, and on the other hand it is derived from the literary charm of Zhuangzi. The free and natural, elegant and variable, and brilliant style of writing has attracted countless literators, and this point is the key factor which has brought countless comments on Zhuangzi. This paper firstly starts with the time of Nan Song in which Chinese criticism got the inchoation, and analyses Lin Xiyi's and Liu Chenweng's comments on Zhuangzi.
