After the founding of the people's republic, the Chinese ceramic art, directed and supported by the government, underwent a long process of restoration and improvement, leading to the resurgence of the ceramic industry, while great importance was attached to the development of the techniques of traditional ceramics. However, the most outstanding characteristics of the society were its centralized leadership and politicization in China from 1950s to late 1970s and the politics, economy and culture were highly integrated into one in a mandatory way. As a result, the development of the arts and crafts was pushed forward in the form of centralization in an enclosed environment of politics and economy. After the setup of the production mode of the initial industrialization, more and more disadvantages prevailed the industry when we comprehended the design of industrialized products from the perspective of the handicraft and applied the mode of handicraft production to the industrialization. As a result, the industrial development of the ceramic industry were hindered. For the ceramic art, the ideas suitable for the arts and crafts were still adopted, focusing on the principles of "practicality, economy and artistic decorations". It was naturally against the law of the development of the art to apply the concept of handicraft to the production of art works, which eventually led to the malpositions between art and design. The centralized social and economic systems pushed the art forwards along the centralized way of development towards its final rigidity and dogma. After 1980s, the contemporary ceramic art gradually developed in different directions in a radically changing society. The difference in professionalization, cultural formation and educational systems were none other than the processes through which the contemporary ceramic art improved itself by disintegration. For the ceramic art and design, it was the beginning to set up their own systems in an automatic and normal way.
