A Report On The Translation Of Governance For The Eurozone:Integration Or Disintegration?(Excerpt)

We are now living in a world where business interactions between nations are increasingly frequent, and where economic situation getting more and more complicated. It is a desire of Chinese readers to have a better understanding of what is going on. As an important source of information from the outside world, financial exposition has a primary goal to provide the readers with knowledge and information of finance and economics. So, it is of much importance to further improve this kind of translation.In this report, we discuss the application of skopostheorie in the translation of three expositions selected from Governance for the Eurozone: Integration or Disintegration, a book which collects experts’ analyses of the eurozone. This report has four parts. The first part is the description of the translation project, including the significance, source and structure of the report. The second part is the introduction to the source text, including its author, version, main contents, and analysis of the source text. The third part is about quality control, including the difficulties encountered during translation and how to overcome them through various translation strategies. The last part concludes with the lessons, enlightenments and unsolved problems in the translation project. It can be concluded that skopostheorie serves as an excellent guidance during the translation of exposition in finance and economics.
