In this paper we deal cross-style language of the New Period Literature with the application of the theory of contemporary cognitive psychology, context theory, markedness theory, literature theory, mental space theory, relevance theory, semantic theory, iconicity theory, the theory of discourse analysis on the basis of the theories and methods of stylistics from the linguistic functions and the relations of style and genre: (1)We unveil the relations of cross-style language and cross-genre writing, genre, style by studying cross-style language in both the New Period Literature and the development history of Chinese literature. At the same time, we regard cross-style language from stylistics as an equitable choice, which reflects a law of the development of literature and social culture situation, and a dialectical unity of self-discipline and discipline of literature and art. (2)According to the theory of contemporary cognitive psychology, we interpret the conception of literary style as a kind of prototypical categorization and adduce the viewpoint of psychology field of style. In view of the above, we expound the pragmatic mechanism of cross-style language and the structural characteristics of cross-style language from a completely new study angle. (3)On the basis of the study principle of respecting different writers and different language styles, we evaluate the functions of cross-style language of the New Period Literature on style and genre, the values and meanings of cross-style language in literary style and literary genre as well as the disciplinary nature of literary creations which employ cross-style language.This paper in which we regard language as the basis is intended to provide theoretical basis for stylistics in Chinese, studies of literature with the methods of synchronic analysis and diachronic analysis, dynamic analysis and static analysis, macroscopic analysis and microscopical analysis. Furthermore, our aim is to provide language resource and rhetorical skill for literary creation possible in accordance with stylistic law.
