Witches & Wizards, a special group, in the society of China, have played a magnificent role in the history of the Dynasties of Xia, Shang, and the western Zhou.The great change taking place during the Spring& Autumn and Warring States, declared the end of their rise in history stage. It was then that the fall of Witches began. From then on, Witches & Wizards in Ancient China had been on their tortuous way. From the Han and the Tang Dynasty to the Song Dynasty, they were faced with a new turning point. However, the researches on the Witches & Wizards have been concentrated on those of the Pre-Qing period and Han Dynasty. The history on how Witches & Wizards had developed after the Han , such as the development on the various dynasties and the phenomenon on the each dynasty. Thus, the paper focuses on the Song Dynasty to have a freely discusses. It is composed of sixth parts as following:The first part discusses the development of Witches & Wizards before the Song. It is suggested that Witches & Wizards had declined since the th Spring& Autumn and Warring States. However, this kind of declination was not unchangeable but on a winding way. For instance, the development of Witches & Wizards in Han and Tang was an opposition compared to the former dynasty. It will make up for the disadvantages of the former researches, to some degree, which is worthy of reading.The second and third part discusses the Witches & Wizards themselves of Song. It have a all-round review, which intended to reveal the special appearance of Witches & Wizards in the Song. The idea of this part is quite valuable, but, because of lack of the relevant materials, it is rarely discussed.The fourth and firth part discusses the influence on the society that Witches & Wizards of Song presented. It valued the Witches & Wizards ' effects on society of Song, such as the sides, the degrees and the features. Moreover, it showed a fact that the declining and transiting effect of Witches & Wizards of Song intensified the conflict with the society.The end part focuses on the effect of the Song on Witches & Wizards. The emphasis is placed on the characteristics of the forbidding activities known as "Everyone participipates in the movement", "Forbidding along with taking measure", which prove the wonderful meaning of the Song. This issue has been discussed by many scholars, however, the paper think it has a bit better viewpoints.The whole paper seeks to reveal the developing of Witches & Wizards including the relationship between the Witches and the society of Song, and review to the status of the Song taking measures to boycott Witches & Wizards in the ancient China.
