Adolescent Social Adjustment Theory And Empirical Research: Structure, Mechanism And Function

Social adaptation is defined to be that individual actively conform to the surrounding, regulate and change the surrounding, eventually attain to harmonious relations and equilibrium state between individual and social environment in the process of the interaction of individual and social environment. Social adaptation can be studied from three aspects:Mental structure, mental process and mental function. Mental structure is a steady behavioral mode that is displayed by means of interaction of individual and social environment, and individuals adapting to social environment; Mental process is the one that individuals master and control social situation, cope with situational stress, regulate mental state, and attain to harmonious relations and equilibrium state between self and social environment in the process of social action; Mental function is certain feature state of social adaptation that resulted from certain process of social adaptation that the person endowed with certain structure of social adaptation experiences. Three aspects of social adaptation make up the model of social adaptation of personality through interrelation, interaction and interfusing. This dissertation can be divided into six parts to develop the theoretical analysis and empirical research on the theme.Part I Introduction According perspectives of system theory, general analysis of social adaptation as personality phenomenon leads to the research intention and clue of this dissertation. On the base of general concept on social adaptation, the theoretical framework and methodology of the dissertation are therefore brought forth.Part II The research of the structure of adolescent social adaptation It consists of theoretical and empirical research..Theoretical research probes two domains: the concept of social adaptation and the structure of social adaptation. On the concept of social adaptation ,essential distinction between personal social adaptation and animal natural adaptation is shown through analysis and contrast. Personal social adaptation aims at not only natural existence, but also body-mental health, and personal development. On the structure of social adaptation, different research approaches and strategies are found through analysis of similar research. Therefore, the researcher puts forward two direct research strategies of the structure of social adaptation:function-structure strategy and process-structure strategy.Empirical research is carried out through two steps: In the first place, in the guide of function-Structure strategy, the researcher explore the connotation and the structure of adolescent social adaptation from 421 middle school students by means of open-ended questionnaire investigation and the method of content analysis; In the second place, in the guide of process-structure strategy, the researcher theoretically build up, then explore and verify the structural model of adolescent social adaptation by means of the investigation to 1087 middle school students of close-ended questionnaire investigation and factor analysis. Finally the conclusion is so such: (1) The self-made questionnaire has good reliability and3梸1validity .(2) The structural model of adolescent social adaptation consists of 4 dimensions, 16 factors: Interpersonal adaptation: sociality, doubt tendency, social admitedness, altruism; Mental resilience: shockness, intra-inhibition, optimism, adaptation inflexibility, challenge; The sense of psychological control: self-confidence, the faith of control, responsibility, selfdecidedness; Mental energy: diligent-progress, intelligence, vigor.Part III The research of the mechanism of adolescent social adaptation Through theoretical and empirical research, it answer two problem: concepts, theories and classification of the mechanism of social adaptation, and influence of the structure of social adaptation on the mechanism of social adaptation.Theoretical research show that social adaptation can be divided into three levels:master, coping and def...
