Study On Design Criticism Of Contemporary Chinese

Design theory, design history and design criticism constitutes an integral part of the art design.The development of design criticism has an important role for the design of art education, design practice, the growth of the design industry and designers in contemporary China. In China, contemporary design has a distinct times.The integration and conflict between the meaning, scope, philosophy of art design and the developing of design industry, educational practice are more centralized and more prominent than before. From the perspective of sociological,this thesis studies of Chinese contemporary design and design criticism, such as the status quo, their development, a major criticism of social thought and events and has qualitative analysis of the design features and laws, pointed out the problems as well. From the view of methodology, specific principles,methods and strategies are also made to promote the development of Chinese contemporary design criticism.In the first chapter of this thesis, the purpose of the study and research significance are illustrated, the results of previous studies are summed up as well and it also focus on the concepts of contemporary design and design criticism. In chapter two and three, this thesis focuses on the status quo, analyzes social situation which affectes and restricts the development of design and design criticism,in particular the political environment, economic environment, cultural environment, the ecological environment. As the Fourteenth Congress of the Communist Party of China, University of expanding enrollment, China's joining the World Trade Organization have a significant impact to China disign so as a symbol of China's design,the history of Chinese contemporary design is split into three stages:1980-1992,1993-1999, and from 2000 to now, then not only the design of contemporary Chinese history is summarized,but the value and significance of design criticisms to China's contemporary design is analyzed as well.This thesis focuses on analysis of China's contemporary design ideas and problems in chapters four and five. First of all, it summed up the criticism of China's contemporary important design ideas, such as "Made in China", "Created in China"and "Designed for China". All reflectes the national feelings; design criticisms for luxury packaging, architectural design, book design criticism, reflectes the ethical and ecological protection of design thinking. the rapid development of design education and design exhibition is concerned, and the designer's ability and the creative ability sparked widespread criticism, the discussion on the "arts and crafts" and the concerns of intelligent design and digital design reflects the Chinese forefront of contemporary design criticism. Secondly, the thesis analys the major design events in contemporary Chinese, such as the Beijing West Railway Station, National Theatre, the Olympic "Bird's Nest", the design of the Olympic Games, CCTV new building, Shanghai World Expo and other criticism. Then summed up the criticism of China's contemporary design features and the law, and pointes out the problem, reflectes on these issues from different angles.This thesis studies the Chinese and what kind of design criticism we need and how to promote China's development of design criticism in chapters six and seven. First of all, it analyses the trends of chinese design from six aspects such as the product of intelligent; Secondly, it proposes the principles of design criticism from a methodological point of view, such as the principle of contradiction analysis, the principle of suitability, the principle of nationality, the principles of age, the principles of aesthetic, the principles of scientific, the principles of functional, the principles of ethical, the principle of integrating theory and practice, the principle of the future and so on. Finally, the author makes a number of views on how to promote the development of China's design criticism, raising critics's awareness of the problem, expanding the channels of design criticism, and strengthen the research to the education of design criticism. the author also puts forward specific ideas from the critics, designers, public, major media, internet, fairs, international voice and theoretical research, teaching reform, and so on. In particular, the theory is based on Fei's Cultural Consciousness, it thinks that we need to recognize the value of traditional culture, understand the trend of world development, and shape the scientific design criticism to promote the development of Chinese contemporary design criticism.
